The Talent Acquisition Specialist is primarily responsible for performing all aspects of recruitment and staffing for the organization. 

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruiting: Advertising and soliciting resumes from qualified candidates; coordinating and attending career fairs across Canada; screening resumes and applications for suitability; conducting initial screening interviews, both telephone and personal; making hiring  recommendations based upon the eligibility criteria provided, and drafting and extending employment offers.
  • Marketing/Advertising: Increasing the BGIS brand to reach a broader and wider market of candidates; Finding new, innovating and creative ways to make BGIS an appealing and desirable company to work for, especially outside of our immediate industry.
  • Social Media: Increase employment/talent brand via social media channels: LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
  • Works with the Senior People & Culture Director and People & Culture Business Partners to ensure that BGIS conforms to government and regulatory hiring and employee management practices.
  • Maintains an updated pool of qualified and potential candidates.
  • Ensures effective and fast recruitment processes both internally and externally.
  • Responsible for providing current recruitment knowledge and trends within the market.
  • Works closely with Business Partners to identify and make recommendations to recruitment needs.
  • Actively sources qualified candidates through LinkedIn, and/or Indeed..
  • Follows-up and coordinates with recruitment channels.
  • Executes pre-screening and/or final phone/face to face interviews for junior & mid level positions.
  • Coordinate with universities and industry associations in relation to targeted hires
  • Work closely with Talent Acquisition Coordinator to ensure reporting and data integrity are maintained.
  • Support Business Partners with weekly update on recruitment progress.
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in recruitment or a related field with a proven track record of success.
  • Broad knowledge of current and cutting edge recruitment trends and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Provincial and Federal Employment Equity legislation.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Computer literacy, including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and experience with Applicant Tracking tools (ideally, Taleo ATS).
  • Exceptional work ethic, energetic, with strong values and principles,
  • Good team player but able to work well independently and with minimal supervision.

The Maintenance Team Lead is responsible for overseeing a team of Technicians in the delivery of preventative and corrective maintenance, routine and on-demand services for assigned facilities.  The Maintenance Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the execution of activities performed by Technicians to ensure that work is performed in accordance to established processes and practices and is in compliant with all internal and external requirements including but not limited to environmental, health and safety, fire protection.  In addition to people leadership responsibilities, the Maintenance Team Lead also performs and delivers preventative and corrective maintenance as well as routine and on-demand services. 

This role will work in collaboration with all key BGIS departments to ensure full support of all activities and play a key role in our INTEGRATED approach to operating buildings.

Visibility in Sites:

Inspection Management:

  • Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs and opportunities for improvement. 
  • Implement and monitor execution of inspection checklists and schedules. 

Occupancy Experience: 

  • Assists in enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction and maintaining positive relations through manner in which work is performed and services delivered on time and with high quality. 
  • Prioritize occupant comfort and satisfaction through efficient and timely delivery service. 
  • Address occupant concerns and requests in a professional manner. 

Proactive Communication and Escalation: 

  • Must be able and willing to work shifts, be available for on-call/standby and emergency call-outs as they arise

Work Order Management: 

  • Oversee and maintains, troubleshoots and repairs mechanical and electrical building systems and equipment 
  • Oversee and responds to routine and on-demand service requests and oversees the execution of preventative and corrective maintenance on facility mechanical and electrical equipment and systems 
  • Assigns, prioritizes and monitors work progress in partnership with the BGIS CMMS Team.  
  • Monitors execution of activities and performance to ensure timely completion and adherence to all requirements including but not limited to operating procedures and practices, quality, performance and contract response requirements. 
  • In partnership with the Central Work Order Management Team Manage work orders efficiently, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and importance. 
  • Ensure accurate documentation of work performed and maintain detailed records. 

Financial Ownership (Including Quotes Management):

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • 5 years of facility operations and maintenance work experience

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance and overhauls bus engines, transmissions, differentials, brakes, suspension, steering, HVAC and all auxiliary equipment, including electrical components.

  • Diagnoses mechanical and electrical defects.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Considerable knowledge of the practices, methods, tools and equipment used in the overhauling, repair and maintenance of heavy duty and automotive equipment.

Education & Experience

Typically, the knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position are obtained through completion of a Journeyperson Certificate in Truck and Transport Trade, Heavy Duty Mechanics, Agriculture Machinery Technician or Automotive Service Technician, combined with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in truck and transport mechanical repair including training and experience in the heavy-duty automatic transmission and automotive electrical fields. Training and experience in Allison Automatic and ZF Transmissions, Automotive Electrical systems, and Cummins diesel engines is preferred.

Working/Other Conditions

Must have or be able to obtain a Class 5A License.

The Donor Centre team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services collecting donor blood in a safe manner to enable safe products which save lives every day.

 

In this role, you will assist in the collection of blood and blood products ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and all required documentation is carried out. You will play an integral part in building and promoting a positive donor experience and encouraging donations.

Formula for success

  • Leveraging your ability to communicate effectively with donors, you will conduct registration and confidential screening to determine eligibility and build and promote a positive donor experience.   
  • Utilizing your superb people skills, you will provide donors with information, instruction, and advice on blood donation. 
  • Drawing on your knowledge and experience you will provide coaching and consultation to donor centre staff, acting as team lead for collection events as needed.
  • With your excellent interpersonal skills, you will work in a diverse team environment assisting in the collection of whole blood and/or apheresis blood components which save lives daily.
  • At mobile events within our communities, you will assist in setting up booths, tables, and other equipment to ensure donor clinics are properly set up for use.

Desired education and skills

  • Completion of accredited nursing program and current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the province is required.
  • Two years of experience working as a nurse is considered an asset as is a certification in First Aid and CPR.
  • Previous experience as a preceptor or with coaching others is an asset.
  • Technical skills including Microsoft Word and Outlook, and the ability to learn new systems and programs. 
  • A second language is considered an asset to support a positive donor experience.

The GTA Facility in Brampton, ON is FGL’s and Canadian Tire’s most highly automated distribution centres, processing and delivering incoming vendor goods to our large chain of retail stores. This facility has some 16 km of automated conveyors, 3 High speed sortation systems, our automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) using a shuttle system storing product in almost 110,00 locations, to deliver product reliably and efficiently throughout the building. These systems work together through a central computer-controlled system to ensure product is received and delivered to our stores quickly and accurately.

The Maintenance Department is seeking a supervisor (shift supervisor) to lead a skilled team of trades, including (4) Industrial Mechanics and (2) Electricians

 to perform scheduled preventive maintenance and service work to achieve department and productivity key performance indicators. The Supervisor supervises the execution of the maintenance work plan for the assigned shifts and assists in the set up for the oncoming shifts as required. The Supervisor liaises with the Maintenance Planners to ensure all planned work has the resources and material available to complete the plan and works closely with the incoming Maintenance team at shift hand-off to ensure plan compliance and transfer of information regarding breakdowns and other issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead employees in the daily execution of planned (PM) & unplanned (service) work, and project or overhaul work as required

  • Work with Operations Managers/Team Leads to respond quickly and effectively to equipment downtime, productivity or safety issues

  • Monitor production requirements during shift to meet operational requirements

  • Provide direction, leadership and problem-solving guidance to employees to minimize equipment downtime

  • Ensure all work orders are completed on a timely, efficient, effective and safe manner

  • Meet or exceed shift planned work, including preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance and 5S (housekeeping)

  • Ensure all work completed meets or exceeds industry or trade quality standards

  • Communicate job status to customers, Planning and other shifts/shift Supervisors

  • Distribute work fairly and effectively to team members

  • Ensure crew members have sufficient skills to perform assigned work, and recommend training or other methods to increase crew job knowledge and capability

  • Identify and implement relevant legislative and other training for team

  • Ensure crew follows requirements/regulations of Occupational Health & Safety Act and Canadian Tire standards

  •  Perform quarterly employee 1:1 check-in reviews and yearly performance appraisals

  • Lead coaching and disciplinary sessions as appropriate

  • Assist in supervisor coverage where possible during vacations and other absences

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma required (Engineering or Technical Discipline) or Skilled Trade License (442A Industrial Electrician, #433A Industrial Millwright Mechanic

  • 5+ years supervisory experience in the maintenance field or demonstrable equivalent experience

  • Demonstrable experience working with O.Reg 851 (Industrial Establishments)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance planning techniques, work-order flow, proactive maintenance techniques

  • Experience with computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)

Assets

  • Experience with automated storage retrieval systems (ASRS), automated conveyor/sorter systems
