As a heavy equipment operator, you will have the opportunity to become a dedicated contributor to our oil sands mining operations operating ultra class haul trucks.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 6 months' experience with operating equipment (haul trucks, wiggle wagon, dozers, graders, excavators) in industries such as mining, civil earthworks, pipelines, sawmills, pulp and paper mills or manufacturing, or highway construction.

  • A High School Diploma, General Education Diploma (GED), or Canadian Adult Educational Credential (CAEC) or 10+ years of work experience.

  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Be a positive contributor to building safety culture.

  • Complete walk-arounds, safety checks and field level risk assessments

  • Follow our operating standards and procedures.

  • Operate various makes and models of haul trucks.

  • Report all incidents, damage and near misses immediately.

  • Communicate updates to your supervisor to ensure that you meet all goals and objectives.

 

Location and other Key Details:

  • You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in Fort McMurray.

  • The shift schedule is a six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts).

  • This is not a camp-based role.

  • This is a temporary assignment with a remaining duration of up to 2025, depending on business need.

  • This position is safety sensitive.

We are looking for a junior Electrical Engineer/Engineer in Training to join our Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Reliability Team in Fort McMurray. Minimum Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientist of Alberta (APEGA)

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide general mechanical engineering support relating to static equipment fitness for service (FFS) assessment, repair specifications, re-rate assessment, failure investigation, purchase specification, equipment strategies support etc. to site operating units

  • Produce engineering packages with varying scope and complexity such as:

    • Repair packages (both emergency/routine maintenance, outage, and turnaround)

    • Upgrade packages following Management of Change (MOC) process, risk assessment / peer review, preparation of engineering drawings/sketches, updating data sheets, etc.

    • Purchase specifications for new and replacement pressure equipment.

    • Support fitness for service assessments such as minimum thickness calculations, re-rates, material alterations, fire damage assessment etc.

  • Support shutdown scope development

  • Work collaboratively with process, maintenance and technical personnel to resolve plant and system issues

  • Conduct root cause failure analysis for static equipment

  • Registered Nurse and practicing member of the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta is required
  • 3+ years’ experience in the occupational health nursing field and the oil sands industry preferred
  • Experience with and knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Health Information Act, WCB Act and Regulations and Privacy Act

Minimum Requirements:

  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • 5 years relevant work experience related to Pipelines
  • A self-starter who is knowledgeable in pipeline operations procedures, policies and practices, and oil spill response
  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
  • In depth knowledge in safely depressurizing, purging, pressurizing natural gas and liquid pipeline operating facilities as well as pipeline pigging and integrity processes 
  • A proven mechanical aptitude with experience around operating rotating equipmentalong with strong communication skills  
  • Experience with environmental, health and safety standards and use of all-terrain vehicle (ATV’s)/ utility-terrain vehicle (UTV’s) for routine pipeline maintenance activities 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the safety culture at Suncor with a focus on ensuring operating equipment is reliable, maintained to our expectations and safe to operate
  • Ensure safe monitoring and maintenance of pipeline facility sites and Right of Ways
  • Participate actively in pipeline integrity projects such as completion of regularly scheduled weekly pipeline pigging, coordinating and supervising use of pipeline inspection tools and participate in integrity dig programs
  • Support and/or participate in Emergency Response capabilities, contractor supervision and excavation of pipeline as well as attending safety/operational meetings
  • Process Alberta one-calls, witnessing and supervising pipeline crossings, manage land concerns and issues as well as servicing pipeline facility valves
  • Prepare controlled area excavation and foreign crossing reports
  • Monitor pipeline right of ways to identify potential encroachments and respond to pipeline emergencies
  • Supervise third party service contractors during pipeline excavations, repairs and construction projects as required
  • Prepare equipment isolation as well as inspect equipment for malfunction and perform minor repairs and adjustments to improve performance
  • Prepare reports, work orders and notifications using the SAP processes in an accurate and timely manner

 

Location & Other Key Details:

  • You will work out of Voyageur Pipelines office in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • The shift schedule is a 12-hour rotation of days (Seven days on / Seven days off)
  • This position is safety sensitive
  • You will be required to perform some heavy lifting, use ladders and work on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces
