Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Fleet servicing occurs primarily at the fully equipped Garage at Manitoba Yard or National Yard which houses an employee base of approximately 150 employees from various Trades but also at several satellite facilities. As an Automotive Service Technician, you will work with members of the Fleet & Manufacturing Service team to ensure that quality andtimely work is performed to support and service our clients. A major part of this position will be to inspect, diagnose, conduct routine maintenance work and support the outfitting/up-fitting of new vehicles, including completing approved modification requests. Preference will be given to candidates who have knowledge and experience in; the installation of components, reading and creating electrical schematics, ability to build, design and troubleshoot electrical systems, and any practical experience in building fleet vehicles to meet customer’s needs. The challenge this busy environment offers is in the variety of work, from small and heavy equipment to automobiles and light to heavy trucks, as well as Plant and Facilities maintenance, Manufacturing and Building maintenance.

Receive returns, count and confirm quantities, determine condition and complete paperwork (e.g., separate invoices and match to bills).

Obtain orders, prioritize if necessary, and select products from the proper locations.

Obtain and properly match up reprinted orders.

Verify accuracy of orders picked, including product name and size, product code, lot number, expiration date, and quantity. Escalate concerns to Lead or Supervisor.

- Complies with all applicable municipal, provincial and federal codes and regulations and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.
- Performs assigned day-to-day repairs, emergency troubleshooting and preventive maintenance. Completes corrective maintenance and repairs, records service reports as required.
- Reviews assigned work orders. Estimates time and materials needed to complete repair. Orders necessary materials and supplies to complete all tasks. Utilizes CMMS to manage work orders, create notes, and the work order track completion.
- Assists with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems including: plumbing systems, kitchen and food equipment, roofs, drains, and HVAC/R.
- Inspects building systems including Fire, Life Safety Systems, HVAC/R, and plumbing to ensure operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by client. Troubleshoots and reports on failures and other major issues for specialized repairs.
- As requested, inspects the work performed by outside contractors.
- Supports an energy management program to ensure measures are taken to operate all systems in the most efficient manner to keep operating costs at a minimum.
- Maintains lighting systems throughout the facility, cleaning fixtures and replacing bulbs and lamps.
- Performs carpentry, painting and furniture assembly tasks as needed.
