The Collections Operations West team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by collecting plasma in a safe manner to enable safe products which save lives every day. In this role, you will be responsible for administrative support to all program activities and you will provide support in accordance with all regulations, standards and good manufacturing practice.

Formula for success

  • Leveraging your ability to communicate effectively with donors, you will conduct registration and confidential screening to determine eligibility and build and promote a positive donor experience.    

  • Utilizing your strong people skills, you will provide donors with information, instruction, and advice on plasma donation and other ways to contribute to Canada's Lifeline

  • Drawing on your knowledge and experience, you will provide coaching and consultation to donor centre staff and support donor education. 
  • With your excellent interpersonal skills, you will work in a diverse team environment assisting in the collection of plasma, including performing venipuncture according to established standards and complete multiple processes within the Centre that require strong communication.
  • Your excellent attention to detail will be utilized in ensuring completeness of information in multiple systems and processes. This includes screening and collection, along with the storage of products, preparation of samples for testing, and packaging products for shipment.
  • Drawing on your knowledge or experience in continuous improvement, you will contribute to the framework of continuous improvement and implementation of best practice standards with the team

Desired education and skills

  • Completion of accredited nursing program and current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the province is required. 

  • 2 years of experience working as a nurse is considered an asset as is a certification in First Aid and CPR. 

  • Previous experience as a preceptor or with coaching others is an asset. 

  • Technical skills including Microsoft Word and Outlook, and the ability to learn new systems and programs. 

  • A second language is considered an asset to support a positive donor experience.

  • Perform physical assessments and determine fitness to work
  • Oversee the work of occupational health technicians
  • Work independently when required
  • Respond to emergency situations in clinical settings
  • Prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Conduct drug & alcohol testing, physical demands testing, ear plug fit testing, and interpret results
  • Understand and apply the Occupational Health Act and applicable legislation
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers to offer comprehensive patient care
  • Document all completed interventions
  • Maintain knowledge of testing required for TELUS Health Edmonton contracts
  • Ensure a professional and clean work environment
  • Lift and carry equipment safely (up to 50 lbs)
  • Apply infection control principles

What You Bring

The Maintenance Technician, Electrical Utilities is fundamental in providing safety leadership and nurturing a safety minded culture. Leading the execution of all maintenance activities on the Christina Lake high voltage system, the successful candidate will facilitate and maintain 24/7 on call coverage for high voltage emergencies and be the designated operating authority in charge of system operations.

  • This is a full-time employee position working a shift of 12hrs per day, 8 days on, 6 days off. Wednesday to Wednesday.

  • Christina Lake has full-service camp facilities.

  • Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations.

  • Christina Lake is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton as well as bus transportation to site from La Corey, AB. and Lac La Biche, AB

 

What you’ll do:

  • Provide on-call and after hours support for operations and maintenance activities and upsets

  • Supervise and implement activities that are vital to making repairs, replacing, adjusting, and modifying equipment

  • Use troubleshooting skills and our current CMMS system to address equipment failures and other found work

  • Provide technical support for personnel when interpreting job plans, as-built drawings, and single line diagrams

  • Contribute to the development of job plans, estimates and scheduling of trade work activities

  • Collaborate with warehouse personnel to ensure effective utilization of warehouse inventory

  • Provide support for drilling and completions by supplying “high line” power connections and disconnect as required, serving as the primary point of contact for on-site trades and contract personnel, regarding ongoing and scheduled high voltage tasks

 

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Power system electrician, Journeyman certification or Power system technician with a journeyman certification (Electrical)

  • Minimum 6 years of related experience

  • Experience with microprocessing relays - SEL, Schweitzer, Ion Meters, Multilins, Substation, utility, power generation and MCC experience. Servicing/ maintaining transformers, circuit breakers and motor control systems

  • Experience with microprocessing relays
