Scope of Position
- Provide services to ensure that MSM is compliance with Health & Safety & Environmental legislation and Regulations including compliance to Magna / MPT guidelines. Schedule and perform required BMS system audits, to ensure compliance to standards. Make recommendations to enhance the BMS system. Interface with, guide and support MSM personnel as required.
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant post-secondary education
- One (1) to three (3) years previous experience in a Health, Safety & Environmental within a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of relevant regulations, codes and legislative requirements relating to OHSA, CSA, WSIB and the Environmental Protection Act.
- Able to collaborate with workers and demonstrate leadership in placing safety as first priority
- Certified member from the Workplace Health & Safety Agency
- JHSC Certified member

Job Specific Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with accepted safety standards and applicable laws.
- Implement, coordinate & maintain ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 certification.
- Develop, implement, enforce & maintain HSE programs, policies, work instructions and procedures considering EHS legislation and corporate policy.
- Manage the Joint Health Safety & Environmental Committee, inspections, action plans and meetings.
- Perform environmental and Health & Safety training for all levels of the division, including orientation to new employees.
- Coordinate required inspections & audits; champion internal auditing (ISO 14001/ISO 45001 Lead Auditor).
- Ensure the yearly NPRI, O.REG. 127-01 and AWS/ESDM reporting documents are complete and ensure submission in a timely manner.
- Provide guidance to employees on Behaviour Based Safety Program.
- Coordinate all annually required testing and monitoring such as storm, sanitary testing, hygiene assessments, waste audits, etc.
- Improve and maintain Health, Safety and Environmental standards to ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Environmental Protection Act and MSM’s policies.
- Review all accident, incident and near miss investigation reports and make suggestions to prevent recurrence. Aid in the development of corrective actions.
- Submit claims to WSIB and manage modified work program.
- Monitor new and revised legislation and remain current with the latest safety requirements.
- Maintain WHMIS compliance at the Division.
- Provide the Ministry of Labour with documentation at their request, and accompany them on any plant audits.
- Ensure compliance with the OH&SA in the approval process for new equipment, and existing equipment modifications based on priority scheduling (LOTO, PSHSR, etc).
- Coordinate activity on ergonomics, 5S and 3R’s Program.
- Maintain records of third party contracts relevant to health, safety and environmental issues and legislation.
- Manage liquid and solid waste disposal, follow up on trends to reduce waste and ensure compliance.
- Facilitate and actively participate in the monthly meetings.
- Continuous improvement responsibilities to enhance the HS/E management program.
- Annually test and update where required the spill and evacuation procedures.
- Prepare audit findings and distribute accordingly.
- Coordinate and administrate hearing tests and pre- placement medical examinations as required.
- Support department with Sustainability and Energy projects.
General Responsibilities
- On an annual basis as a minimum, prepare and chair a formal management review of the Health Safety and Ergonomic Management system.

Audits and Training
- Meet Health, Safety and Environment Requirements.
- Conduct WHMIS and Spill training and ensure follow up training is done.
- Provide service to ensure compliance with OHSA and related legislation.
- Assist or prepare documentation / paperwork necessary to meet the standards for certification for ISO 14001 and ISO/TS 16949 system and HS/E requirements.
- Update documentation and issue new revision dates.
- Ensure the first Aid room is kept clean and updated with required stock.
- Coordinates and schedules third party audits / inspections, testing and sampling related to health, safety and environmental issues.
- Conduct health, safety and environmental internal audits and coordinate annual waste audit.
- Performs tasks and responsibilities as detailed MSM's TS16949 policies, procedures and work instructions.
- Comply with the designated ISO / 14001 responsibilities related to effective environmental management in accordance with MSM’s Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
- Issue CAR’s / CA’s and follow up with personnel responsible for corrective action. Summarizing and communicating audit results.
- To ensure that IMS conforms to the requirements of ISO14001:2015. Reporting the performance of the management system to Top Management.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
- Observe standards for safe working conditions as outlined in the Occupational Health & Safety Act as well as rules and regulations outlined in the employee handbook.
- According to OHSA Section 28 (1) (a) (b) (c) (d), (2) (a) (b) (c) and (3):
A worker shall:
- Work in compliance with the provisions of this Act and the regulations;
- Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that your employer requires to be used or worn;
- Report to your employer or supervisor of the absence of or defect in any equipment or protective device of which you are aware and which may endanger yourself, or another worker; and
- Report to your employer or supervisor any contravention of the Act or the regulations or the existence of any hazard of which you know.
You shall not:
- Remove or make ineffective any protective device required by the regulations or by your employer, without providing an adequate temporary protective device and when the need for removing or making ineffective the protective device has ceased, the protective device shall be replaced immediately;
- Use or operate any equipment, machine, device or thing or work in a manner that may endanger yourself or any other worker; or
- Engage in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct.
- You are not required to participate in a prescribed medical surveillance program unless the worker consents to do so.
Administrative duties and responsibilities
- Responsible for the administration of WSIB and RTW Program. Follow ups with sick/injured employee and document RTW Plan.
- Conducts new employee Orientation.
- Ensure that all Health & Safety records are kept in an organized manner for quick and efficient access, as per BMS and general record requirements
- Observe standards for safe working conditions as outlined in the Occupational Health & Safety Act as well as rules and regulations outlined in the employee handbook.
- Promotes and initiates the monthly Health & Safety Quiz.
- Comply and participate with suggestions and Continuous Improvement program at MSM.

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Engineering Services Manager, you will be the liaison within the engineering department who is responsible for the coordination of job tasks, engineering production procedures and data management.
Performance Expectations:
- Gets to know the Engineering team individually and has a firm handle on the team’s pulse. Works with engineering management to maintain and improve the overall culture of the Engineering team.
- Assist Managers / Supervisors with organizing meetings (WebEx, conference calls, lunches, etc.). Assist with correspondence and keeping meeting minutes as required.
- Organize Engineering department communications/meetings, organization changes, charts, etc.
- Assist Engineering Managers / Supervisors with overtime approvals, timesheet corrections, and approvals for payroll. Assist with expense reports.
- Logs all vacation requests and approvals, update the vacation tracker and update HR as required.
- Provide a link between Design Engineering and other departments by supplying supporting documentation and information.
- Book airline reservations, rental cars, and hotel rooms for Engineering staff or visitors as required.
- Process incoming and outgoing interoffice mail.
- Assist Managers / Supervisors with Engineering test machine requisitions. Keep track of machines in Engineering along with plans to return to production.
- Assist with the maintenance of the Lean Suggestion Program. Assist Managers / Supervisors with tracking lean suggestions (submissions, approvals, feedback to Engineering Designers, copies to Lean Suggestion coordinators. etc.).
- Prepare reports and presentations and provide information to staff and the general public regarding the company and program rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Assist in the coordination of administrative procedures such as budget submissions.
- Regular follow-up with Managers/Supervisors on actions, reports, etc.
- Back up support for the administrative release of engineering changes (ECOs), engineering purchase orders (EPOs), and deviations initiated by Design Engineering
- Back up support for entering new part numbers and revision changes
- Back up support for structuring BOMs from engineering prints
- Maintain control of the Policy and Procedures manual
- Create and provide training as required
- All other duties as assigned.
Credentials:
- Completion of secondary school or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Familiarity with prints, print management, sales graph and charts.
- Ability to estimate inventory levels and supplies on hand.
- Plan and prioritize job tasks, following established procedures.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
Desired Characteristics:
- Ability to work in a team environment, supporting coworkers as needed.
- Familiarity with PPAP, FMEA, 8D and APQP.
