Position Summary:

The Programmer Analyst’s role is to define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain existing and new software applications in support of the achievement of business requirements.  This includes writing, coding, testing, and analyzing software programs and applications.  The Programmer Analyst will also research, design, document, and modify software specifications throughout the production life cycle. The individual will apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve systems issues to maximize and continually improve Formet’s Information Systems.

 

 

Who we are looking for:

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or software engineering, and/or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with multiple computer programming languages (ex: JavaScript, C#, Python, C++, Java, Visual Basic, .NET Framework).
  • Experience with SQL Server, MySQL and Postgres databases
  • Experience interviewing end-users for insight on functionality, interface, problems, and/or usability issues.

 

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Working with database management systems (NoSQL, Postgres) to extract, transform, load framework.
  • Managing timelines and projects skills, with the capability to prioritize and multitask as needed.
  • Maintain extremely high ethical standards regarding all sensitive data that you may be exposed to.
  • Continuously challenge past practices by actively exploring and implementing new solutions and methodologies to improve the quality and time to market of our product and services to the company.
  • Produce a top-quality product on time and ensure that it meets or exceeds our customer’s needs.
  • Collaborate with developers, programmers, and designers in conceptualizing and development of new software programs and applications.
  • Liaise with Systems Administrator, to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems.
  • Analyze and assess existing business systems and procedures.
  • Assist in the definition, development, and documentation of software’s business requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with internal users and departments.
  • Assist in defining software development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation.
  • Research, identify, analyze, and fulfill requirements of all internal and external program users.
  • Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications.
  • Write programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or performance of company applications as necessary.
  • Design, run and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.
  • Administer critical analysis of test results and deliver solutions to problem areas.
  • Generate statistics and write reports for management and/or team members on the status of the programming process.
  • Develop and maintain user manuals and guidelines.
  • Train end users to operate new or modified programs.
  • Conduct research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
  • Liaise with vendors for efficient implementation of new software products or systems and for resolution of any adaptation issues.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades.
  • Manage and/or provide guidance to junior team members.
  • Support continuous improvement through idea generation and application development.
  • Fully utilize the departmental Helpdesk Application by diligently adhering to project dates.
  • Communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams.
  • Flex and adapt regarding learning and understanding new technologies.
  • Conduct research into software-related issues and products.
  • Prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Perform other duties as designated.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • • Post-secondary education – completion of Welding Technologist/Technician Course from a Community or recognized college consisting of two years or more. • Some experience with manual Gas Metal Arc Welding.

  • • Support program launches in-house and off-site to ensure Formet’s Quality Standards are being met and in order to achieve optimal weld quality.
  • • Support pre-production buy-offs for welds when required.
  • • Buy off of the First-Off / Mid-Off processes, and set up verifications to ensure it is being done correctly.
  • • Initiate and coordinate problem reports and containments.
  • • Establish, maintain and implement welding parameters to support production and Quality Assurance.
  • • Conducts weld inspection and analyze weld data, generate reports.
  • • Be an additional resource for Robotic weld touchups.
  • • Archiving and supporting Paxit system set up and training.
  • • Be dedicated to generating Weld PPAP packages when required.
  • • Participate as a Team Member with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • • Assist in problem investigation and root cause determination.
  • • Participate in Product, System and Process Audits, including CSRs, as required.
  • • Audit and approve Special Material Requests and reworked material when required.
  • • Assist in the training of production personnel in all weld quality requirements when required.
  • • Attend and / or Champion quality meetings when requested.
  • • Take initiative to follow through on completion of tasks / projects, PCR’s and weld-related GROW ideas.
  • • Cover for the other Weld Technicians if he/she is absent.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Job Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Licensed Electrician or equivalent electrical engineering certificate
  • Completion of an industrial electrician apprenticeship program or equivalent  
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the automotive industry as an industrial electrician
  • Knowledge of electric circuitry of relay, PC and PLC logic.
  • Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Lockout Policies and electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems

  • Safe Installation and repair of equipment
  • Install, examine, replace and repair electronic wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components. 
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
  • Inform the Maintenance Manager about changes in electrical circuits and updates to the original diagrams
  • Wire new control panels according to drawings and verbal instructions under consideration of Hydro codes and other applicable standards and regulations.
  • Pass on information, experience and knowledge to other maintenance employee, to ensure effective, non-repetitious problem solving and machine repairs. 
  • Work in a cost-effective manner and maintains a high standard of quality and excellent workmanship. 
  • Conduct preventative maintenance programs and keep maintenance records. 
  • Must have continuous improvements on machinery and equipment.  Meet schedule set by maintenance Manager.
  • Use different PLC programming devices including software to modify and read logic control programs.  Perform other assignments from time to time as managements so directs.
  • Inform the Maintenance Manager or depending on the shift, inform the
  • Production Supervisor to the best of his ability about unusual things, faulty design, unsafe conditions, missing parts, etc. Adhere to standards and rules described in the Employee Handbook, conduct in a manner consistent with those practices leading to the safe operation of the division and displaying leadership, concerns and a safe work ethics.
