Responsibilities
- Responsible for performing mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on company fleet vehicles.

Qualifications

Journeymen Heavy Duty Mechanic Ticket required.

High School Diploma or GED required.

3+ years journeyman mechanic experience preferred.

Previous experience as a mechanic with light and heavy equipment required.

Experience repairing and diagnosing gasoline, diesel, and propane engines, automotive electrical systems and material handling equipment preferred.

Successful applicant will be required to have a Class 1 Driver’s license or be suitable for Class 1 training.

- Carry out a variety of semi-skilled manual tasks related to pothole repair, concrete repair, litter control and other related duties
- Maintain and operate basic tools and equipment such as pumps, tampers, jackhammers, small rollers and all equipment related to the task
- Perform manual sidewalk cleaning, sweep sand from centre medians, load trucks and complete other general labourer duties as operationally required
- Ensure all work is to be performed in accordance with the Branch's Occupational Health & Safety Program and Enviso - Environmental Management System (ISO 14001)
- Perform other related duties as required
During the winter season (approximately October to April) under the Snow and Ice Control Program in the Northwest District, you will work as a Truck Driver III and be responsible for:
- Operate a tandem or single axle sand/plow while engaged in snow and ice control
- Load and unload materials
- Perform routine maintenance duties, such as cleaning the truck box and worksite, changing blades and performing routine maintenance of vehicles and equipment
- Be aware of obstacles adjacent to the road to avoid damage to Public Property when operating plow
