Main Purpose and Function
The Civil Engineer I in the Sewers Design Branch provides engineering design, project management, contract management, and inspection services during the design and construction of sewer infrastructure projects, establishes sewers requirements for development proposals, and investigates sewer system and drainage problems. 

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Completes cost effective storm and sanitary sewer infrastructure design for construction by City or private crews 
  • Provides project management of sewer and multi-disciplinary (sewer, water, streets) capital projects 
  • Performs field reviews on  sewer assets to ensure compliance with sewer standards
  • Reviews designs and/or tender documents for storm and sanitary sewer infrastructure capital designs 
  • Schedules sewer capital projects in consultation with Sewer Operations staff
  • Reviews CCTV inspection reports of sewer infrastructure 
  • Prepares letters and media information related to sewer construction works
  • Completes post construction evaluation of project closing task
  • Investigates storm events and flooding locations and liaises with Sewer Operations, Risk Management and the public 
  • Completes rezoning and development application reviews for sewer infrastructure requirements
  • Provides direction to sewer staff for separating private property plumbing system and correcting improper plumbing connections
  • Communicates and liaises with outside agencies, public, internal branches to discuss sewer system operation 
  • Other duties/responsibility as assigned

 

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an Engineer-In-Training or Professional Engineer designation and minimum 0-2 years of related experience in municipal civil infrastructure design, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience (new graduates and EITs are encouraged to apply)
  • Registration or eligibility for registration as an Engineer-In-Training or a Professional Engineer in British Columbia. 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and application of engineering principles related to hydraulics, hydrology and rainwater management 
  • Knowledge of Organizational Quality Management processes and frameworks
  • Strong interpersonal, written communication and organizational skills, including excellent written and verbal communication and report writing 
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills with the ability to effectively and efficiently prioritize actions in response to numerous and diverse demands 
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive, productive relationships at all levels in the organization and external stakeholders
  • Strong conflict resolution, mediation and negotiation skills 
  • Demonstrated ability in utility design, construction and project management
  • Ability to exercise diplomacy and tact

Where operationally appropriate and subject to change, the City of Vancouver has a Flexible Work Program. This program allows staff to work a hybrid work week from locations that are a daily commutable distance from their work at a City worksite.  At this time this position is eligible to be part of the Flexible Work Program.

About this opportunity:

 

The Supply & Logistics Analyst position is a customer service operations role based in Calgary with primary responsibilities for volumetric supply and forecasting of crude oil and diluent transported within the Husky Midstream systems, business systems, industry, and internal reporting. This role is one of the primary contact/liaison positions for shippers/customers, pipeline connected facility operators, Midstream field personnel and internal business stakeholders.

 

The successful candidate will join the Husky Midstream Supply and Logistics group within the Customer Service Operations and Systems team. The group acts as fluid movement controller for the purpose of planning coordination and fulfilling physical and contractual fluid movements to ensure the right volumes are accounted for at the right location at the right time.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Model and track the flow of all physical fluid movements and manage the contractual transactions through HMGP’s gathering systems and terminals to meet all customer and fluid movement requirements

  •  Lead and report on all Midstream pipelines and terminals shipper positions to ensure balances and contracts are met

  • Generate month-end volumetric accounting reports for all shippers/all products

  • Quarterly volumetric reforecast, budget, and long-range planning

  • Manage capacity, utilization for system restriction, curtailment, or apportionment activities

  • Forecast and reconcile system balances

  • Administrate and update the customer QuickConnect portal

  • Liaison between shippers, connected facility operators, Husky Midstream field operations, Scheduling as required to manage gathering system throughput, shipper and connected facility requirements/issues

  • Develop analytics, contingency/strategy plans, participate in resolution and problem solving, employing an ability to react quickly and efficiently to system sensitivity

  • Manage volumetric forecast and resolve nomination issues (daily, Forms A/C, quarterly and budget)

  • Develop, operate, manage, and maintain integrity of applications/workbooks

  • Reporting and audit for Petroleum Registry, SOX, EPAP

  • Subject matter expert, administrator, and business tester for Integrated Pipeline System (IPS)

  • Participate in special projects as required

Responsibilities

  • Deliver pre-ordered products to customers on assigned route using a Coke Canada Bottling fleet truck.
  • Check accuracy and stability of truck load.
  • Carry out an inspection of truck before departure and hitch the trailer.
  • Offload products and bring into the customer’s location.
  • Merchandise product into customer location as needed.
  • Collect company property.
  • Follow all Coke Canada Bottling and Store policies regarding backroom, display floor, replenishment, equipment, and safety.
  • Maintain and replenish products in store racks, shelves, displays, and coolers by transporting product between backroom/storage room to front-of-store with manual equipment (pallet jack, hand-truck).
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with co-workers and customers.

Qualifications

  • Commercial License with Air (Class 1 or AZ) with no major violations over the last three (3) years.
  • One (1) plus year of commercial driving experience.
  • One to three years of general work experience.
  • Local delivery experience preferred.
  • Ability to repetitively lift, carry and position product (weight up to 50lbs or 22kgs) above shoulder height without
  • assistance.
  • Ability to push and pull manual and powered equipment (i.e. pallet jack, hand-truck etc.) containing product loads for a minimum of 100 yards without assistance.
