Specific Duties/Responsibilities
- Leads the Electrical Design staff in delivering on strategic objectives and the continuous improvement of services related to the City’s electrical infrastructure.
Asset Management:
- Assists in prioritization, administration and execution of the electrical infrastructure capital plan (approx. $4M annually), working in partnership with the Divisional Asset Manager/Engineer and Operations

- Develops and implements program work plans
- Partners with the other branches (such as Traffic and Data Management, Transportation Design, Streets Activities, Streets Use Management, Utility Management, Sustainability Branch etc and provide resources to deliver design/review and construction services
- Oversees and directs the delivery of electrical capital projects including the design and construction phases, in accordance with the Engineering Project Management Framework
- Coordinates with internal and external customers to ensure that design services are provided in a timely and suitable manner, meeting project schedules
- Develops business cases and provides strategic analysis to new and emerging initiatives
- Ensures use and sustainment of corporate IT systems to manage information, including asset management, financial management
Technical work:
- Establishes and maintains the City’s electrical specifications and drafting standards
- Ensures all necessary regulatory requirements are met related to Electrical design
- Leads technical resource for electrical design related to street lighting, Traffic Signals and power-related design
- Manages the technical staff to ensure delivery in accordance with standards, regulations and specifications
- Ensures the delivery of electrical design aligns with the design and construction standards and requirements
- Seal (as a P.Eng.) electrical designs generated under direct supervision. Serves as Engineer of Record for electrical designs.
- Conducts internal Audits and lead and prepare the team for external Audits
Safety and Training:
- Ensure safety program and standards are in place and followed by staff
- Ensure Remote work Book is current and Requirements are met.
- Make sure check in, check out times and supervisory checks are performed
Continuous Improvement:
- Sets, tracks and analyzes operational performance goals and metrics, including costs and turnaround times as well as corporate green operations targets.
- Identifies industry best practices in electrical design specifications and capital program delivery, and implement within section
- Engages staff, management, clients and partner departments about how Electrical design can improve and better serve stakeholders
- Provides ongoing review and decision making with respect to staffing and employee engagement
City Representation:
- Participates and partners with other government, public and private organizations related to the City’s practices with electrical design
- Prepares and presents Council reports on electrical engineering issues
- Represents the City on other committees and working groups
- Responds to FOI and legal services requests
- Responds to resident requests

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a Professional Engineer designation and minimum 6 years related experience in design and construction project engineering work, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Experience managing staff and HR issues in a union environment.
- Registration or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia.
- Project Management Credentials (PMP) or equivalent is preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles, standards, and specifications, as they relate to the municipal environment

Our Drivers do more than drive.In this role, you will assist in setting up booths, tables, and other equipment to ensure mobile donor events are ready for use in addition to transporting people and products integral to Canada’s Lifeline.
Formula for success
- Utilizing your experience with driving and transportation you will ensure that blood and blood products are transported in accordance with safety measures and procedures and are kept at an appropriate temperature. You will also ensure the safety of employees, donors and/or volunteers travelling with you.
- Drawing on your knowledge of safe transportation procedures and your attention to detail, you will conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure equipment is in proper working order, and accurately complete all required documentation.
- Leveraging your customer service skills, you will assist the collections team by greeting and helping donors book or rebook appointments as required.
- You will assist with setting up systems and Wi-Fi connections for mobile events by utilizing your familiarity with technology and aptitude for learning new programs.
- Utilizing your superior interpersonal and communication skills you will work with staff to carry and set up/dismantle equipment and supplies. You will also load and unload equipment and supplies at donor centre sites and upon return to centre.
Desired education and skills
- Completion of high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid Class 4 Unrestricted BC drivers license and a clean commercial drivers abstract from within the last 30 days.
- Minimum 24 months verifiable professional driving experience as a commercial vehicle driver, within the last 3 years.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs.
- A willingness to learn procedures in a regulatory environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English. A second language is considered an asset.

What you can expect
- There will be no long haul or cross border driving required.
- Travel in and around Vancouver, including Merritt, Kelowna, Kamloops, Penticton, Victoria, Nanaimo and other parts of Vancouver Island. No overnights unless an emergency or agreed in advance.
- Physical capability to load, unload, push and carry heavy clinic equipment and supplies. This will include stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting up to 23 kg (50 lbs.), pulling, and pushing up to 136 kg (300 lbs.) on a wheeled platform.
- Strong culture of mutual respect and integrity.
Additional Information: Monday to Sunday. Start times could be any time between: 0500-1700hrs. End times could be any time between: 1200-0200hrs. Rest days: Sunday/Monday or Monday/Tuesday or Tuesday/Wednesday or Wednesday/Thursday or Thursday/Friday or Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday.

What you will do:
- Assists customers with detailed pricing proposals/quotes for products and services projects.
- Supports new sales opportunities through bid monitoring, prospecting and project research.
- Follow a systematized sales process designed to convert leads into in-home sales opportunities by listening, understanding the consumer’s needs, asking probing questions, overcoming objections, and securing details to aid in the eventual sale.
- Provides and develops documentation for customers to look at product information and solutions. Provide product and technical information to outsides sales to support generation of sales into the utility segment.
- Make a high volume of outbound phone calls to consumers who submitted a web form for information on our products with the intention of scheduling an in-home sales visit for the Sales Closer. Occasionally receives inbound phone calls for the same purpose.
- Communicates with internal and external resources, providing customer service and completing quotations, fulfilment of demand, ensuring on-time delivery of orders, providing engineering support, and troubleshooting other customer problems.
- Fulfills Sales Support activities for the Order to Invoice process, owning the customer interface for quality processes: corrective actions, Field Quality Reports.
- Adhere to Company compliance and Health Safety and Environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and requirements

What you will bring:
- Experience working in a modern (automated) contact center is a must with an emphasis on consultative sales or lead-generation.
- Ability to collaborate with others and understand geography and lead-setting skills.
- Proven track record of success in selling over the phone, consultative sales, lead setting, or other relevant contact center experience.
- Exhibits superior technical skills and ability to task switch between omni channel contact center software, a CRM, mapping tools, the Microsoft Office suite, and other cloud-based tools.
- Has excellent verbal communications skills, strong grammar, spelling and written skills, and a strong understanding of North American geography.
- Comfortable with receiving coaching in an individual or team setting and having your work product evaluated in real time.

Salary Range: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
