SUMMARY
Maintains security and safety of people and property in assigned data center. Observes and reports activities and incidents. Duties will include supervising the use of wand and metal detectors, service enhancement, and training.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• The primary function of the screening officer is to ensure that only authorized equipment is allowed to enter or leave secure production areas in order to protect the data maintained inside. The screening officer reports to the assigned Shift Security Supervisor.
• Read, understand, and apply the latest version of the Security Operation Procedures (SOP), and other bulletins and communications with regards to the roles and responsibilities.
• Completes and submits the SAR to the screening supervisor at the end of their shift or as directed by the screening supervisor. 
• Conducts screening of all personnel entering or exiting a secure production area.
• Ensure compliance with all required screening procedures and policies.
• Identifies prohibited items and prevents them from being introduced or removed from a secure production area. 
• Performs other duties as directed by the screening supervisor or responsible direct supervisor.
• Perform function checks on walk through metal detector (WTMD) and handheld metal detector (HHMD) at the beginning of each shift.
• Maintain Screening Checkpoints in accordance with the Screening SOP.
• Ensure proper screening procedures and techniques are utilized as per the Screening SOP.
• Interact effectively across diverse cultures.
• Monitor traffic flow of checkpoints and recommend staffing adjustments as necessary.
• Follow proper chain of command and procedures for all matters which require escalation.
• Escalate issue and/or violations to the Shift Security Supervisor.
• Required to know, follow, and enforce safe work practices, and to be aware of company policies and procedures related to job safety, including safety rules and regulations. Employees are required to notify superiors upon becoming aware of unsafe working conditions.
• Ensure all functions, duties or tasks are to be carried out in an honest, ethical and professional manner, and to be performed in conformance with applicable company policies and procedures. In the event of uncertainty or lack of knowledge of company policies and procedures, employees are required to request clarification or explanations from superiors or authorized company representative.

MINIMUM HIRING STANDARDS:

• Valid Security license.
• Valid CPR and First Aid Certificate.
• 1 year of security experience is preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age. 
• Must have a reliable means of communication, such as cell phone. 
• Must have a reliable means of transportation (public or private). 
• Must have the legal right to work in Canada. 
• Must have the ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently. 
• Must have a high school diploma, secondary education equivalent, or GED. 
• Must be willing to participate in the Company’s pre-employment screening process, including background investigation and meet the requirements for a Reliability Clearance through the Government of Canada.

Responds to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other incidents. Accountable for various mill functions within the Processing Plant, reporting to the Mill Supervisor. 

Responsibilities:

• Physically perform job requirements within the Mill and areas of responsibility.
• Willing to work shift work in various areas throughout the plant.
• Support all production plans to obtain and sustain desired process performance. 
• Understand and perform daily activities to ensure efficient utilization equipment, material and resources. 
• Ensure all work completed supports activities of the subsequent shifts; communicate these activities to the mill supervisor. 
• Complete operational checks monitoring quality and productivity ensuring established standards are met. 
• Maintain all required housekeeping in areas of work. 

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 required.  
• Proven safe work record required. 
• Proven attendance record required.
• Positive attitude required.
• Mill Process Common Core U-Modules required.
• Minimum 3 months operating experience on Grinding Circuits required.
• Mill Specialty Modules: Operate Overhead Crane, Operate Forklift, Operate Conveyor Belt required.
• Valid driver’s license required. 
• Knowledgeable in WHMIS and MSDS an asset.
• Knowledge in health, safety, standards and procedures an asset.
• Knowledgeable in site and department operating procedures an asset.
• Understand and follow written and oral instruction required.
• Ability to physically perform job requirements in the mill operations environment including walking, climbing stairs, sitting and equipment operation required.

Contributing in this role means:

• Carry out the investigations necessary to maintain the inventory on a daily basis;

• Analyze non-conforming products and process them in the system;

• Carry out verification and reconciliation of physical and theoretical inventories of products;

• Prepare and carry out monthly end-of-period tasks according to established procedure; 

• Apply and strengthen internal controls in place to maintain the accuracy and integrity of inventory including that of external warehouses;

The qualifications sought are:

• High school diploma or equivalent;

• Have a minimum of 1 or 2 years of experience in a similar position;

• Bilingualism (spoken and written) sufficient to communicate with inventory teams at other sites in Canada; 

• Attention to detail is essential and skills in analyzing complex data;

• Good knowledge of the Office suite (Excel intermediate level);

• Knowledge of Maestro and Manhattan systems (a significant asset);

• Knowledge of the inventory process (an asset);

• Initiative and ability to work independently;

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
