Job Description

  • The candidate must maintain professionalism in customer service.
  • The candidate must load and unload goods.
  • The candidate must operate and drive straight or articulated trucks in order to transport goods and materials.
  • The candidate must oversee the condition of the vehicle and inspect the brakes, tires, lights, cold storage, and other equipment.
  • The candidate will be responsible for performing pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, as well as overseeing all vehicle aspects.
  • The candidate will be responsible for receiving and relaying information to central dispatch.
  • The candidate will be responsible for recording cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
  • The candidate must handle and transport dangerous goods.
  • The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of equipment.
  • The candidate must deliver goods to customers.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in French language.
  • The candidate must have a certificate or diploma in other trades.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must have a Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks) and a Driver’s License (Class 1 or A).
  • The candidate must be able to handle weight up to 45 kg (100 lbs).
  • The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate must be flexible.
  • The candidate should have good judgemental skills.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate must be hardworking.

Work setting

  • The candidate’s relocation costs should not be covered by the employer; if the company does not provide a relocation package, you may request an advance on your earnings to cover some of your moving expenses.

Experience and specialization

Documentation knowledge

  • The candidate must be knowledgeable about accident or incident reports, dangerous goods occurrence reports, driver logbooks, inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip) and trip reports.

Type of trucking and equipment

  • Trucking and equipment types include straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles) and tractor-trailer.

Transportation/travel experience

  • The candidate must have transportation and travel experience at international, local, national, provincial/territorial, and regional levels.
  • The candidate must have both long-haul and short-haul travel experience.

Security and safety

  • The candidate should undergo a thorough criminal record check, driver’s licence validity check, and driving record check (abstract).

Transportation/travel information

  • The candidate must be able to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
  • The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence.

Work conditions and physical capabilities

  • The candidate should be required to handle heavy loads as part of routine work.
  • The candidate should be willing to work for long hours in sitting positions.

Own tools/equipment

  • The candidate must have steel-toed safety boots and a safety vest.
