Owner Operator Truck Driver – Long Distance

QUALIFICATIONS:
• A minimum of three (3) years of verifiable driving experience is required, including at least one year as an owner-operator.
• Equipment must not be more than 7 years old and have a maximum of 600,000 miles. Equipment must pass an onboarding inspection at a Linamar approved facility.
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and to enter the United States
• Must possess a valid class AZ driver’s license that has not been suspended or revoked in the past 36 months
• Must be admissible into the US and able to obtain a FAST card.
• Must meet USDOT medical requirements
• Must provide a recent criminal record search or a valid FAST card
• Must provide an original driver’s abstract no older than 3 months, no more than 3 demerit points
• Must provide an original CVOR abstract no older than 3 months
• Must submit a negative drug screen
• Must be capable of meeting the physical demands of the job
• Must satisfactorily complete a road test by a LTI appointed evaluator
• Must not have any preventable accidents within the last three years where the claim exceeds $3000

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Operate and drive articulated or straight trucks, weighing over 4600 kg with three or more axles to transport goods and material to destinations
• Oversee all aspects of vehicles, such as condition of equipment, loading and unloading, and safety and security of cargo
• Perform pre-trip inspection of vehicle systems and equipment such as tires, lights, and brakes.
• Record cargo information, distance traveled, fuel consumption, and other information in log book and/or on board computer
• Communicate with dispatcher and other drivers using on-board computer, cell phone, and CB radio

Performance Expectations

Plan and direct highway and/or local drivers on daily freight pick-up and deliveries

Pre-plan driver’s trip itineraries and communicate those with all drivers

Track equipment, freight, and drivers through use of satellite and/or two-way radio

Communicate and direct customer service on issues and information that need to be communicated to customers, such as freight delivery delays and billing issues

Collect, sort, and distribute all driver trip envelopes

Ensure that all driver trip envelops are complete and accurate

Ensure that all customer needs and freight requirements are met through instructions and trip planning of the drivers

Prioritize loads and customers to accommodate changes and problems as they arise

Reporting to the Site Leader, the Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for providing direction and leadership to all associates and visitors to the Heritage facility. In addition, is responsible for ensuring consistent administration and compliance with all health and safety regulations and programs by the Health and Safety team.  This position is also responsible for development and delivery of the company-wide Health and Safety program, as well as managing all WSIB claims.

• Recommends way to reduce or eliminate industrial accidents and health hazards in collaboration with supervisors and managers, and the JHSC.

• Acts as a resource to management in health and safety related matters.
• Conducts training needs analyses, develops programs, promotes, coordinates and/or delivers program, policies and procedures to promote safe work practices which comply with all municipal, federal and provincial legislative requirements.
• Management Co-Chair on the Joint Health and Safety Committee
• Represents management in meetings with the Ministry of Labour.
• Maintains statistical data for reporting requirements.
• Ensures that all safety audits are conducted and documented appropriately.

The Opportunity:

The Industrial Electrician will be responsible for effective troubleshooting, repair, installation, and preventative maintenance of facility electrical distribution systems and equipment in an industrial setting. • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and code specifications to determine lay-out of industrial equipment and installations
• Conduct planned preventive & predictive maintenance and keep maintenance records

• Strong working knowledge of HMI's, electric motor controls, programmable logic controllers, basic wiring circuits and skills necessary to safely test common electrical systems and make minor repairs where permitted

In this temporary full-time role, you will participate in the research, development and implementation of a comprehensive, multidisciplinary Indigenous Health and Well-being Strategy for the City of Toronto. The HR Associate, Indigenous Health and Well-Being, you will provide advice and consultation to City divisions, key decision-makers and partners, aiming to foster cross-team awareness, collaboration and engagement in matters related to a proactive wellness strategy. By applying your knowledge of the National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace and knowledge in Indigenous health and wellness initiatives, you will provide ongoing support to the Employee Health and Wellness section on the needs of First Nations, Inuit, and Metis staff. You will also participate in mental health and wellness programs, training, and communications. The HR Associate, Indigenous Health and Well-Being will provide Indigenous staff with ongoing health and wellness support that is culturally relevant and addresses the impacts of colonization.
 

What will you do?

• Provide support and advice in the research, design, development, implementation and evaluation of health and wellness strategy for Indigenous employees.
• Provide consultation in Indigenous health and wellbeing, assist in developing knowledge on best practices, contributing to the development and enhancement of new and existing tools and resources.

What do you bring to the role?

1. A post-secondary degree in Health and Wellness studies (Psychology, Social Work, Health Promotion, Public Health etc.) is a strong asset, but will not be required for a candidate with extensive relevant experience delivering results in a similar role. Lived experience as a member of an Indigenous community. Certification in Psychological Safety/Workplace and/or Mental Health is an asset.
2. Experience researching, developing, and implementing mental health strategies, services, supports and wellness programs, preferably in a public service environment.
3. Experience consulting and delivery of adult education through corporate-wide initiatives and programs.
4. Some experience facilitating working groups and managing multiple concurrent tasks.
5. Some knowledge of mental health promotion theory and principles, and its application on employees and workplaces.
6. High level of accountability, motivation, customer service focus and team orientation.
7. Qualitative and quantitative research and analytical skills (e.g. survey development, data analysis, report writing).
8. Ability to exercise good judgement and decision-making in handling complex sensitive situations, using tact and discernment, while upholding confidentiality.

Major Responsibilities:
 

Under the supervision of the Captain, the Deckhand is required to perform duties of a varied nature on a vessel which include:
 

• Assists in docking/undocking operations.
• Handles mooring lines and assists in the mooring of vessels.
• Performs general maintenance and related work as assigned on vessels, ramps and docks.
• Assists passengers getting on and off the vessel, and crowd control.
• Participates in vessel emergency drills and exercises per assigned duties.
• Provides information to the public and responds to public enquiries.
• May be required to load and unload freight.
• May be required to collect tickets from passengers boarding the vessel and counts passengers, when required.

Key Qualifications:

2. Must be in possession of and maintain a valid MED (Marine Emergency Duty Certificate) or STCW Basic Safety Certificate.
3. Must be in possession of and maintain a valid Marie Basic First Aid.
4. Must be in possession of and maintain a valid Marine Medical Certificate.

• Ability to handle freight and assist passengers boarding and leaving vessel.
• Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public.
• Must be familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Marine Occupational Safety & Health (MOSH) regulations that apply to this work.
• Must be physically capable of performing lifesaving and emergency duties.
• A Certificate of Fitness as prescribed by Transport Canada may be required.
