The Grade Foreperson is the first in command under the supervision of the Superintendent and oversees the execution of work on the job site, which may include projects in Sechelt, Powell River, or other locations within the Sunshine Coast area, depending on the project year.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Site Operation

  • Ensure work order and all necessary information is provided prior to commencing work
  • Review work orders and fully understand the scope of work and timelines
  • Review project requirements (quantities, cost codes, production rate, drawings …) with Superintendent
  • Perform or verify project survey/layout as necessary
  • Monitor material quantities and production rates on a continuous basis
  • Capable of constructing curb & gutter, sidewalk, CB / MH installation/adjustment, grading operations, cut/fill slopes, excavations, retaining walls, etc.
  • Reinforce the disciplinary program
  • Oversight and review minimize costs and optimize efficiency

Coordinate/Schedule Onsite Work

  • Inform all workers on site of the schedule
  • Lead/organize/give specific instructions to the crew on a daily basis, as tasks may vary day to day on a job site. Organize what is needed for the work site, such as trucks, equipment, materials, and sub-contractors (flaggers, surveyors, utility subcontractors,…) quality requirements are met
  • Supervise all aspects of the daily and weekly operations

Site Safety

  • Minimum 2,000 hours of loader and/or excavator operation in an industrial, mining, or bulk material handling environment.
  • Experience working in a port, terminal, mining, or bulk commodity setting is considered a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with equipment maintenance procedures; mechanical aptitude (welder, mechanic, or machinist experience) is a bonus but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform routine equipment inspections and minor preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities

As a professional driver with Arrow Transportation Systems Inc, working for the Chilliwack Mining Branch, you will have the opportunity to haul B train trailers and operate various equipment from tandem to tri drive trucks. We primarily haul copper ore form Princeton's "Copper Mountain" mine, we also haul road salt and soils. Our various shift schedules offer a level of flexibility to work with your life style.   • Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, application of safe practices, compliance with applicable Acts and Regulations.
  • Perform pre and post and en route trip inspections on equipment operated, ensuring safety, roadworthiness and regulatory compliance.
  • Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, load securement, driver's hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, and weights and dimensions.
  • Record, Maintain and Check all relevant paperwork (i.e. bill of lading,) and documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
  • Operate equipment such as truck cab computers, CB radios, and telephones to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers.
  • Complete electronic logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status.
  • Ensure that all customers, co-workers and the public are dealt with professionally and with respect.

You Possess
