As the Financial Analyst in the Business Integration Section of Parks and Roads Service you will lead the monthly, quarterly and annual budget and variance analysis including identifying and proactively connecting key drivers and leading analysis and preparing presentations for various business cases. - Support the branch sections in planning for their annual work plan, reporting and analysis of their budget vs actual spends, financial modeling and analysis
- Job costing analysis to support creation of the annual workplan and loading the annual budget in SAP for the respective program areas
- In-depth knowledge of SAP financial and Control module and Plant Maintenance operating system
- Work with the business area to identify areas of concern and incorporate solutions that involve the development of new procedures and processes
- Perform ad hoc analysis and forecasts for the management team
- Conduct audits, analytics, research and prepare reports including recommendations for management
- Develop and run various scenarios and sensitivity analysis and interpret financial and business impact
- Document all the assumptions, data and findings thoroughly
- Monitor, develop and maintain KPls as required for the various business units
- Conduct analysis in support of key business metrics and objectives
- Monitor and maintain financial data including cost and revenue relationship associated with the introduction or changes to products and services and capital asset accruals
- Develop complex financial models to support management decision making related to the profitability of new opportunities, capital investments, revenue models and profit margin analysis Lead the process and reviews on cash flow projections that include operating, strategic and capital budget reporting and planning
- Work closely with other departments within the City to ensure that strategic initiatives are achieved
- Perform additional duties as required
Qualifications
- University Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting or a related discipline
- Minimum 3 years experience in financial analysis, budgeting, job costing, process improvement, financial reporting, benchmarking and preparing presentations for leadership
- Professional designation (CFA, CPA, CGA, CMA, CA), or an MBA would be an asset
- Strong SAP skills with experience in Plant Maintenance and WBS reporting is a requirement of this position
- Ability to understand and relate financial concepts, systems and processes to a large complex organization Interpret and analyse complex errors to ensure problem resolution
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills In depth understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cost allocation methodologies and project accounting/ reporting related to SAP
- Strong working knowledge of accounting principles (PSAB, IFRS, GAAP)
- Significant knowledge of software applications including COBS or equivalent, SAP, Microsoft Office and Google Applications including Excel/Google Sheets, PowerPoint/Google Slides
- High level of analytical and conceptual skills to identify and resolve complex financial problems
- Ability to maintain sustained attention to detail in checking and recording financial transactions
- Experience with large ERP systems, ideally with SAP
- Strong problem solving and communication (verbal, written and presentation) skills

This position is at the heart of the plant’s operations, playing a pivotal role in monitoring and controlling the various processes within the IPTF. What will you be doing?
- Participate in and support the planning and development of Sustainable Waste Processing strategies, initiatives and performance measures
- Implement corporate, branch and section initiatives throughout the areas
- Implement consistent standards for customer service and the employee experience
- Monitor day to day performance of contracted maintenance service to ensure the work is being conducted according to the contract specifications
- Work in collaboration with Fleet & Facilities to ensure vehicles/equipment and sites are ready and available as required

Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in waste management processing and disposal activities and associated equipment is required
- Leadership/Aspiring Leaders/Supervisor 101 training or equivalent or ability to complete the City of Edmonton approved Supervisor training within an 18-month time frame of employment in this position

- Knowledge and hands on skill in the operation of loaders, excavators, skid steers, backhoes, forklifts etc.
- Experience with using a HMI to operate a plant, Geoware, SAP plant maintenance and google sheets
- Knowledge and experience with scada operating systems in a plant environment that includes boilers
- Skilled in the operation of vehicles and associated equipment, the use and demonstration of proper lifting techniques and safety procedures
- Extensive knowledge of OH&S legislation, Enviso and WHMIS
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to effectively supervise the daily ongoing activities of a large workforce, including performance monitoring, and attendance management

As a District Inspector II, you will inspect, assess and provide direction for any and all infrastructure including but not limited to inspection and repair of Road Right of Way (ROW) deficiencies, inspection and coordination of restoration for requested work through the On Street Construction and Maintenance (OSCAM) process, and scheduling and coordination with the District Roadway Maintenance Supervisor (RMS) to complete repairs efficiently and effectively.
Some responsibilities will be:
- Inspection of inquiries from citizens, counselors and other sources for deficiencies in ROW to identify safety concerns, investigate root cause of issues, determine appropriate repair methods and execute work according to the City’s priority matrix
- Ensure proper documentation is followed through the 311 notification process from receipt of complaint to repair completion, as well as any email correspondence related to inquiries
- Assessment of possible infrastructure deficiencies that could result in hazardsResource coordination with District Roadway Maintenance Supervisor (RMS) to ensure inquiries and locations are completed according to our priority matrix
- Schedule the work according to the resources provided by the RMS
- Complete and store proper documentation of required and finished work
- Coordination with District Technician to control and maintain inventory of materials delivered, transferred and used by various programs
- Coordination with other areas to effectively track and monitor crew production, material placement and overall program deliverables
- Other related duties as required
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3 years of progressively responsible experience in the area of roadway inspection
- Possession of a Class 5 Alberta Vehicle Operator’s License and the ability to qualify for a City driving permit
- Completion of the following courses from NAIT or equivalent training from an accredited institution would be an asset: Soil Mechanics, Effective Communications I, and Pavement Materials Testing
- Knowledge of all types of asphalt and concrete repair and restoration methods utilized by the city and how they relate to the City’s Design and Construction Standards
- Analytical and conceptual skills including routing and scheduling of work orders to maximize repair efficiency and minimize impact to the public
- Proficiency in SAP is required for all stages of the notification process map (from receipt to closing notification as work completed)
- Familiarity with Envista, POSSE, and Slim applications to help Inspectors locate OSCAM permits, utility maps, upcoming projects, etc
