Formula for success

  • Utilizing your experience with driving and transportation you will ensure that blood and blood products are transported in accordance with safety measures and procedures and are kept at an appropriate temperature. You will also ensure the safety of employees, donors and/or volunteers travelling with you. 
  • Drawing on your knowledge of safe transportation procedures and your attention to detail, you will conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure equipment is in proper working order, and accurately complete all required documentation. 
  • Leveraging your customer service skills, you will assist the collections team by greeting and helping donors book or rebook appointments as required. 
  • You will assist with setting up systems and Wi-Fi connections for mobile events by utilizing your familiarity with technology and aptitude for learning new programs.  
  • Utilizing your superior interpersonal and communication skills you will work with staff to carry and set up/dismantle equipment and supplies. You will also load and unload equipment and supplies at donor centre sites and upon return to centre.

Desired education and skills

  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Must possess a valid Alberta Class 4  or 1-3 with knowledge test drivers license and a clean commercial drivers abstract from within the last 30 days. 
  • Minimum 24 months verifiable professional driving experience as a commercial vehicle driver, within the last 3 years. 
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs. 
  • A willingness to learn procedures in a regulatory environment.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive solutions to topics promoted from the driver community 
  • Conduct Stay and Exit interviews with the driver and broker community
  • Termination or 10b analysis to understanding retention trends.
  • Driver call quality monitoring
  • Direct involvement with rewards and recognition for the driving community
  • Host Group meetings and discussions over priority initiatives
  • Work with contractors to ensure compliant with government requirements and mandates such as regular vehicle inspections
  • Maintain and audit policies and procedures relative to driver daily work
  • Other related duties as may be required

Your Skills & Experience: 

  • Post-secondary training in logistics or business, preferred
  • A suitable combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Minimum 2 years’ previous transportation or operations experience is preferred
  • A suitable combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel & Word; experience with AS400, an asset; ability to learn new programs
  • Superior interpersonal & communication skills; direct, clear and professional presentation of information and the ability to relay information (verbal and written) between several parties to deliver a positive customer experience
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a deadline driven environment; appropriate sense of urgency
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving skills, with the ability to evaluate current situation, respond quickly to changing requirements, and execute accordingly
  • Strong leadership skills; negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships 
  • Sound judgement and business acumen in developing and successfully implementing strategies to achieve corporate objectives; strong long- and short-term strategic planning skills
  • English, other languages an asset

Under supervision of the Service Supervisor, this position drives a bus to transport passengers to local destinations in a safe, courteous manner and provides related information to the public in a polite andamp; professional manner.

Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Operates a bus in a safe and courteous manner in accordance with Saskatoon Transit rules and regulations either along scheduled routes to local destinations or on chartered services or tours.
  • Provides passengers with information about schedules, stops and presents the fare.
  • Ensures passengers safety when boarding, riding and leaving buses.
  • Reports all operational problems, such as delays and mechanical problems, according to established procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Abilities And Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of the geographic layout of the City of Saskatoon.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal courteously and tactfully with the public.
  • Knowledge of, and empathy with, the transportation needs of persons with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, civic departments and outside agencies.
  • Physical ability to perform the assigned duties and work in all climates.

Education, Training And Experience Requirements

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Three years’ experience in public transportation service delivery, including two years customer service experience.
  • Possession of a valid Class 2A Learners Licence.
  • Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.

Requires Security Check

Acceptable current Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) upon offer of employment.

Additional Requirements
