- Represent the EPS during the internal dispute resolution (grievance) process and work with inhouse legal counsel on matters that have been advanced for hearing (ex. arbitration, human rights)
- Conduct workplace investigations and workplace assessments, as well as recommend and facilitate appropriate resolutions.
- Facilitate training for supervisors on best practices in areas of performance management, discipline, grievance handling, and other employee and labour relations matters.
- Conduct classification reviews and make recommendations for EPS positions while working closely with the City of Edmonton Classification team.
- Facilitate training as needed including planning and delivering sessions for managers and employees.
- Partner with Disability Management to develop recommendations and solutions for complex return to work and duty to accommodate situations.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal client groups, including employees, managers, and senior leaders, along with our HR colleague and the various unions and associations.
- Participate on HR projects and project teams to develop new and existing initiatives, programs and resources focused on improving organizational and employee effectiveness.
- Other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in business administration/commerce with a major in human resources management or other related discipline.
- CPHR Designation would be considered an asset.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive HR experience, of which at least three (3) years has been in a unionized environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of grievance processes, progressive discipline, attendance management, performance management, labour law, and organizational effectiveness tools and practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing, to build open and respectful dialogue, establishing understanding and commitment to initiatives.

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to identify current and prospective staffing requirements, prepare and post notices and advertisements, and collect and screen applicants
- The candidates should be able to review candidate inventories, recruit graduates of colleges, universities, and other educational institutions, and coordinate and participate in selection and examination boards to evaluate candidates
- The candidates should be able to notify applicants of results of the selection process, prepare job offers, and determine eligibility for entitlements and arrange staff training
- The candidates should be able to supervise personnel clerks performing filing, typing, and record-keeping duties

This permanent position is based in Montreal
With your experience, HR expertise and collaborative style, you will play a key role in leveraging our service offering and supporting Intact's strategic priorities.
What you'll do here:

Provide coaching, career guidance and advice related to human resources management, taking into account best practices and trends, and ensuring that management decisions and practices are in line with legislation and company values.

Participate in management meetings of assigned groups and advise on issues related to human resources management.

Collaborate and work with managers on the development of our talent.

Conduct exit and check-in interviews, analyze the data and trends to communicate to management teams.

Contribute to extracting and analyzing HR data for the preparation of the Specialty Solutions HR dashboard.

Make salary recommendations based on compensation best practices.

Participate in the roll-out of business unit initiatives, corporate programs and other projects.

Support the Specialty Solutions HR team with various projects.

Contribute to the improvement of HR processes.
What you bring to the table:

University degree in industrial Relations or Human Resources Management
-
Three (3) years of experience in Human Resources.

Experience in a consultant role will be considered a strong asset.

Ability to evolve in a multi-site and matrixed organization and in an ever-changing environment.

Rigour and analytical skills.
-
Strong communication skills, ability to influence and interpersonal skills with all hierarchical levels.

Knowledge in many areas of human resources, including talent management, performance management and employee relations, disability management, change management, engagement, compensation, organizational development, workforce planning, and succession planning.

CPHR designation an asset

For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
