Major Responsibilities:

  • Maintains golf courses and related facilities to departmental standards as determined by the Supervisor of Golf Courses.
  • Primary duties include, but are not limited to the following operational requirements:
  • Operates all equipment related to golf course maintenance in a safe and efficient manner
  • Operates diesel and gasoline powered equipment, including farm tractors, greensmowers, both riding and walking, triplex units, mechanical sand rakes, fairway mowers, large rotary mowers, aerifiers, top dressers, utility vehicles, mechanical sprayers, verticut units, power rollers, walking sod cutter, overseeder
  • Sets up and operates semi-automatic and automatic irrigation systems, and performs basic repairs as required
  • Performs maintenance of flower and shrub beds as required
  • Performs routine golf course maintenance such as changing holes and tee blocks, repairing divots and ball marks, services ball washers and litter containers
  • Cleans and maintains upkeep of fieldhouse and washroom facilities; performs routine inspections
  • Makes necessary reports and interacts with the public to ensure the safe and orderly use of golf courses and provides good public relations
  • Performs other related work as assigned

 

 

Key qualifications:

  1. Considerable experience working horticulture or in a golf course setting.
  2. Considerable experience in the operation of grass cutting equipment and small power tools.
  3. Experience in the repair and maintenance automated irrigation systems with tools specific to the requirements of the golf course operation.
  4. Experience in the operation of hydraulic equipment with manual or automatic transmissions.
  5. Possession of a valid Ontario Driver's License Class "G" and eligibility to receive a City Operator's Permit.

 


You will also be required to demonstrate:

  • The ability to set up and operate semi-automatic and automatic irrigation systems.
  • Ability to assist in the repairs of equipment and to aid in the maintenance of said equipment.
  • Ability to take direction and work with minimal supervision; work well with co-workers, and members of the public.
  • Familiarity with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, WHMIS, and other regulations that apply to the nature of the Greenskeeper work.
  • Must be able to work a 7 day week operation schedule with flexible starting times.

Under the supervision of the Supervisor VI, this position performs a variety of duties at the Saskatoon Regional Waste Management Centre (Landfill) site to ensure efficient disposal of waste by the public.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Directs vehicles in an orderly manner to ensure accident prevention.
  • Screens waste disposal at the point of unloading to prevent dumping of unacceptable material and to encourage recycling efforts.
  • Enforces posted rules, e.g. no salvaging, no smoking near disposal areas.
  • Monitors and maintains the recycling areas, including the used oil facility.

Qualifications

Education, Training And Experience Requirements:

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Street Cleaning Operations in the Sanitation Services Branch keeps our City streets, laneways and parks clean. The Operations Worker II drives City vehicles and performs manual labour in the collection of litter, debris and abandoned waste.
Successful applicants' availability must meet Branch expectations in order to continue employment with the Branch. Functional and/or physical assessments related to the bona fide position requirements may be required.

 

This position is for Afternoon Shift only. Afternoon Shift works four afternoons per week, including weekends. Afternoon Shift operates on a compressed work week that includes a 10-hour shift (10:00am – 8:30pm) scheduled over a 7-day work week. The successful candidates may be required to adjust shifts (Day, Afternoon or Night) as operationally required and in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

 

The following shifts are currently available and others may be offered according to operational needs:

  • Thursday through Sunday, 10:00am-8:30pm
  • Friday through Monday, 10:00am-8:30pm
  • Saturday through Tuesday, 10:00am-8:30pm

 

Specific Duties

  • Perform manual cleaning with a rake, shovel and leaf blower on assigned maps/beats.
  • Tip/empty litter receptacles on streets and in parks on assigned maps/beats.
  • Clear lanes of abandoned debris on assigned maps/beats.
  • Special events preparation and clean up across the city as assigned.
  • Drivers will dump waste material at the Vancouver Transfer Station or designated compactors or dump zones as needed/directed.
  • Respond to weather specific events that cause risk to public safety or assets in the event of such things as flooding, snow, ice and storms.
  • Document completed work such as pre/post trip vehicle inspections in compliance with Branch policies.
  • Accurately record the results of investigations or work completed in the field in response to Service Requestsfrom 311.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and vehicles.
  • Proper use and storage of equipment and tools.
  • Qualified and trained employees are eligible to operate rear-load Garbage Trucks, Sweepers and Flusher equipment at the higher rate specific to the work for the job classification.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Up to completion of high school.
  • Labouring and semi-skilled experience with small hand tools.
  • Driving experience and knowledge of the City of Vancouver roadways.
  • Experience operating small pick-up trucks, mid to large size trucks, sweepers, flushers, garbage trucks and/or experience operating a Class 3 vehicle or higher preferred.

 

Driver’s License and Record Checks:

  • A current and valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License or higher with Air Brakes and a Satisfactory National Safety Code driving record is required
  • Employees who do not demonstrate a satisfactory driving record will have their application reviewed in more detail

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Training Requirements: 

  • Secondary (high) school diploma or equivalency certificate, Three years’ experience related to water or sewer systems
    INCLUDING

  • Possession of Level 2 Water Distribution Operator Certification from the Saskatchewan Operator Certification Board.
  • Possession of Level 2 Wastewater Collection Operator Certification from the Saskatchewan Operator Certification Board would be considered an asset.

  • The Arborist IA is the lead worker responsible for allocating, checking and reviewing the work of an arboriculture operations crew.
  • The successful candidate will respond to enquiries from the general public in the course of carrying out assignments, participate in preparing presentations, public demonstrations and provides on the job training to subordinates in tree care operations.
  • The Arborist IA will also be responsible for performing tree pruning operations around energized hydro lines and pruning boulevard and park trees using power saws, and other hand tools. Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of the tenth school grade plus considerable experience in street tree operations and in the operation of a boom truck, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Utility Arborist – Certificate of qualification is required.

About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Senior Supervisor, Plant Operations, the Plant Operator will operate a plant area or unit in a safe, effective and productive manner, while working collaboratively as part of the operating team. This role will maintain and troubleshoot all area-specific equipment to optimize performance to meet production targets as per Cenovus guidelines; while supporting on-site maintenance contractors by communicating Cenovus requirements, policies and procedures, and leading by example.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Issue work requests, safe work permits, and perform equipment isolations (LOTO)

  • Perform process & equipment condition monitoring including sampling, testing & analysis as per area responsibilities

  • Complete area operations records such as routine readings, log sheets, required reports, P&ID updates, car seal audits, etc

  • Support operations performed maintenance activities aligned to the site’s operating philosophy

  • Participate in the development, review and revision of Safe Operating Procedures, following safe operating and chemical handling procedures

  • Report all safety observations, near misses and incidents and participate in hazard/risk assessments, safety meetings and incident investigations, as required

 

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Plant Operator in a Steam Plant including all associated processes and systems

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in equipment isolation in preparation for maintenance and safe work permitting.

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

 

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.

Picking line

How you will make contributions that matter: 

  • Wet Packaging – Worker is in direct contact with processed, unpackaged dairy products, and are required to supply the line with the product, placing it into the packaging material, and ensuring product is properly sealed before moving it through to Dry Packaging. Four (4) to seven (7) workers may occupy this position on a production line, and will rotate through the tasks every 30 minutes.

  • Dry Packaging – Worker is in direct contact with packaged dairy products, and are required to ensure labels and product dates are applied correctly, as well as boxing and palletizing the finished goods for the Warehouse. Two (2) to three (3) workers may occupy this position on a production line, and will rotate through the tasks every 30 minutes.
     

General Responsibilities

  • Attend scheduled shift punctually and ready to fulfill all duties required.

  • Meet daily performance targets stipulated by the Production Supervisors, Production Lead Hand, and/or Line Operator.

  • Participate in job rotation, as required.

  • Assist in setup, changeovers, and tear down of machinery and equipment.

  • Participate in daily mandatory stretching program before start of shift, and as required.

  • Report, immediately, any/all food safety and quality issues, and health and safety concerns/infractions to the Line Operator, Production Lead Hand, and/or Production Supervisor.

  • Complete all required documentation accurately and timely.

  • Complete daily sanitation duties.

  • Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Adhere to good hand washing practices to ensure food safety.

  • Comply with all Saputo Orangeville Health and Safety, Food Safety and Quality regulations.

  • Comply with all Saputo Orangeville policies and procedures.

  • Focus on customer satisfaction.

  • Take on additional duties, as required.
