The Energy Analyst is an entry level role responsible for providing reporting, analytical support, technical/engineering insight, and support delivering programs around energy and utility data management, & sustainability program development. The Energy Analyst will work closely with the Energy and Sustainability Manager to successfully deliver on client key performance indicators (KPIs).
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Energy & Sustainability Reporting
- Prepares standard energy and sustainability reports including conducting simple analyses.
- Supports the delivery of energy and sustainability reports used to meet KPI’s and contract deliverables.
Program Management
- Assists in the development of, and delivery of energy and sustainability strategies.
- Works closely with the Corporate utilities team to execute weather correction calculations that address weather sensitivity and seasonality of energy accounts.
- Identifies buildings of interest on an exception basis for additional scrutiny to identify energy efficiency projects.
- Reviews buildings and or systems identified as exceptions/buildings of interest, to explore in more detail opportunities for energy savings with the support/expertise of BGIS’ Corporate energy and engineering groups.
- Supports the Energy and Sustainability Manager to present progress/findings to client and the BGIS Leadership team.
Utility Analysis
- Supports Accounts Payable team in identifying billing anomalies and data inputting errors.
- Works with Corporate BI Team to develop new and existing dashboards to help achieve goals and expand value to client in the areas of investigation and reporting.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Technologist diploma or University degree, preferably Mechanical or Engineering related area
- 1-3 years job related experience; experience with energy auditing would be beneficial
- Good understanding of building systems (mechanical/electrical)
- Advanced skills in MS Excel. Strong MS Word skills. Working experience with MS Access or other database software would be beneficial
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong knowledge of units of energy / utility measurement and conversion calculations
- Appreciation of utility tariff structures and utility bill generation and processing including deregulated market structures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good administrative skills including documentation standards
- Appreciation of financial reporting requirements
Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
- EIT preferred
