About this opportunity:
Reporting to the Senior Supervisor, Plant Operations, the Plant Operator will operate a plant area or unit in a safe, effective and productive manner, while working collaboratively as part of the operating team. This role will maintain and troubleshoot all area-specific equipment to optimize performance to meet production targets as per Cenovus guidelines; while supporting on-site maintenance contractors by communicating Cenovus requirements, policies and procedures, and leading by example.
What you’ll do:

Issue work requests, safe work permits, and perform equipment isolations (LOTO)

Perform process & equipment condition monitoring including sampling, testing & analysis as per area responsibilities

Complete area operations records such as routine readings, log sheets, required reports, P&ID updates, car seal audits, etc

Support operations performed maintenance activities aligned to the site’s operating philosophy

Participate in the development, review and revision of Safe Operating Procedures, following safe operating and chemical handling procedures

Report all safety observations, near misses and incidents and participate in hazard/risk assessments, safety meetings and incident investigations, as required
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

Legally authorized to work in Canada
-
3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate
-
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Plant Operator in a Steam Plant including all associated processes and systems

Minimum 2 years of experience in equipment isolation in preparation for maintenance and safe work permitting.

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.
For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
