Are you passionate about the safety and security of Oil Sands personnel and assets? As a Security Investigator reporting to the Security Lead, you will monitor, direct and report on all aspects of security operations, planning, compliance, systems and procedure development at both Horizon and Albian Oil Sands sites. You will provide security project management services to Canadian Natural business units to assist with the continuous improvement of site security programs and services.
- Job location: Horizon/Albian Oil Sands - Fort McMurray, Alberta
- Company sponsored fly-in/fly-out and camp facilities with flights from Calgary or Edmonton
- Shift schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off, 12 hr shifts

Key Accountabilities:
- Conduct all investigations into criminal activities and security related incidents including motor vehicle incidents to identify vulnerabilities and strategies to mitigate
- Review intelligence reports from national and international sources to assess potential business impacts (May liaise with law enforcement and intelligence agencies, First Nations and Metis groups in the Fort McMurray area as well as security professionals in the oil and gas industry)
- Evaluate and provide direction to the existing contract guard service at the Horizon and Albian sites
- Assist in monitoring daily company security issues as well as during emergency incidents and recommend changes as required
- Manage the contingency and threat assessment response and help the management of the Emergency Operations Center
- Identify required training needs for the security services group
What You Bring to the Role:
- Post-secondary education with 5+ years of Security/Law Enforcement experience
- Good understanding of physical security planning and principals
- Must possess a valid Alberta’s Driver’s license
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, First Nations and Metis peoples in the area and of Oil Sands operations would be a definite advantage

Key Accountabilities:

- Perform all administrative duties associated with conducting training
- Support ongoing evaluation and implementation of quality safety training programs by ensuring safety training is delivered as legislated and is compatible with Canadian Natural’s standards and procedures along with industry best practices
- Assist with various program audits as well as deliver key messages or training in line with Canadian Natural's core value of safety when required
- Research government regulations and provide advice as required
What You Bring to the Role:
- Minimum of 5 years in Health & Safety and /or Oil & Gas Operations
- Grade 12 or GED and a valid Class 5 driver’s license is required
- Experience in Health & Safety, familiar with OH&S standards & practices and experience delivering training is desired
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO), and/or Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety as well as education in adult learning would be considered an asset
- Computer skills essential (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite)
