Responsibility

Performance Expectations

  • Prepare preventative maintenance plans / instructions and schedules that are in sync with the organization’s maintenance goals and production requirements.

  • Tracking and trending data to develop departmental metrics on percentage of work order completion; benchmarking; overtime; planned maintenance completed on time.
  • Tracking deferred maintenance plans and development to reduce the backlog.
  • Assist in planning of annual major shutdown activities, and weekend work as needed when production operations are not running and repairs or PM’s / TPM’s must be executed.

Credentials

 

Millwright 433A License Required or equivalent knowledge and experience.

Job Details

The Level 3 – Maintenance Fully Skilled (CofQ) position, under general supervision, will be responsible for performing maintenance and repair services of facility systems such as mechanical, electrical, and building systems. In addition, duties may increase in scope as skill set becomes more developed; primary emphasis is the performance of a variety of maintenance tasks rather than a high degree of skill in any particular trade.

Performance Expectations

· Establish and maintain maintenance standards and develop and recommend maintenance programs.

· Install new equipment using outside services if necessary.

· Maintain the equipment and facility through preventive/predictive maintenance program.

· Consults the work orders and personal log book for jobs to be done.

· Able to understand the amount of time that particular jobs require.

· Provide guidance in troubleshooting and repair using the most expedient and thorough methods.

· Inform appropriate personnel know of deficiency of stock parts.

· Keep equipment and facility in working condition for maximum uptime.

· Interpret and review schematic drawings of mechanical, structural, pneumatic and hydraulic systems to understand their operation and identify malfunctions.

· Use specialized measuring tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, angle finders, feeler gauges and dial indicators.

· Evaluate condition of parts and equipment.

· Assess feasibility of designs for small modifications to equipment and machinery.

Credentials

· High School Diploma or equivalent general education.

· Certificate of qualifications or certificate in a related field or equivalent working experience (millwright preferred).

· Basic welding skill for millwright.

· Minimum two years previous related experience.

· Taken specific courses and knowledgeable in different controllers (i.e. Fanuc, Siemens).

· Fully capable of level “1” and “2” maintenance requirements.

· Fully skilled in one or more trades (CET or industrial electrician).

· Use computer-assisted design, manufacturing and machining, such as AutoCAD.

· Advanced knowledge in troubleshooting servo motors, drivers, encoders, etc.

· Able to read and understand all codes and regulations (Health and Safety, Electrical).

· Able to teach practices and procedures to co-workers, apprentices and clients.

· Able to discuss work orders, equipment malfunctions and job task coordination with co-workers.

· Perform tasks independently under general direction.

· Able to work in a team setting when necessary to install and overhaul larger pieces of equipment and complete industrial systems.

Job Details

The Maintenance Supervisor position will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the activities of skilled and unskilled maintenance workers ensuring proper methods and procedures are followed to maintain, repair and service equipment, buildings and facilities in compliance with building codes and safety standards. Primarily accountable for maintaining production equipment in a manner that meets organization standards and ensure minimum equipment downtime. In addition, inspect projects to ensure conformity to specifications, direct safety inspections and preventative maintenance programs. This position is responsible for maintaining stock of inventory of materials, parts and specialized tools for the maintenance function.

Performance Expectations

· Manage and direct the activities of employees and equipment in maintenance department in the absence of the maintenance manager.

· Effective employee relations including handling employee complaints, obtaining help and guidance for employee's with problems.

· Conducts monthly department meetings.

· Complete performance evaluations for all maintenance employees.

· Ensure appropriate parts and supplies are available.

· Maintain and direct all PM&PD activities.

· Maintain PMX software and all related documentation.

· Arrange for quotes from contractors in conjunction with maintenance buyer.

· Oversee, mentor and direct all staff.

· Department champion to ensure all contractors have appropriate documentation in order.

· Read completed inspection forms to ensure all maintenance, repair and inspection tasks have been adequately completed by workers.

· Study assembly drawings for equipment to determine what parts are required and how they go together.

· Establish work schedules and shift priorities and appointments to accommodate emergencies and cancellations.

· Develop and monitor detailed overhaul, repair and preventative maintenance schedules for shop tools, equipment and vehicles.

· Develop and monitor operating and project budgets.

· Assume a wide variety of roles to coordinate job tasks with those of junior workers, co-workers and subcontractors.

Credentials

· Completion of secondary school or equivalent general education.

· Journeyperson trade certification in a relevant trade considered an asset.

· MMP (Maintenance Management Professional) certification considered an asset.

· Minimum five years in a maintenance machining environment and two years as a supervisor or equivalent.

· Intermediate knowledge of all applicable Microsoft and other software applications.

· Maintain continuous learning to be kept up-to-date with new technologies, new information and regulatory changes within industry.

· Knowledge of fire alarm system:  Sprinkler, Ontario fire code.

·Automotive manufacturing experience required.
