To ensure timely delivery of packages to predetermined customers on specific routes, reviewing orders prior to delivery, load/unload vehicle and provide exceptional customer service to our client base.

Frito Lay (a division of PepsiCo) has a current opening for a Shunter (Local Driver). This role does require you to hold a Class 1 License, but no experience is required!

Responsibilities

• Prioritize trailer moves to support warehouse efficiencies.
• Complete the yard check to verify trailer contents.
• Maintain cardboard check sheets on a daily basis.
• Interact with vendors, common carriers, and drivers to provide yard information.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Completing Quality/Food Safety training and adhering to the Food Safety Pre-Requisite Programs (PRP/oPRP) that is required for the applicable area.

The Shunt Driver is responsible for ensuring proper, safe and timely handling of inbound and outbound trailers within the Terminal Yard. The successful candidate must ensure they maintain a clean work environment with a focus on proper handling techniques and safety. 

How You’ll Help: 

• Move trailers to and from the dock doors. 
• Park and organize equipment in the yard. 
• Conduct a yard check, which includes recording trailer numbers, refer settings, fuel level, trailer contents or seal numbers. 
• Conduct reefer check including unit number, reefer settings and fuel level.  
• Seal trailers and verify required. 
• Ensure yard is clean and operated in a safe manner. 
• Assist Line haul and P&D Drivers with locating, positioning and other equipment requirements. 
• Moving and handling large and cumbersome freight in a dock environment (50-75 lbs) 
• Report any incidents of safety violation or security breaches. 
• Other related duties as may be required. 

Your Skills and Experience:   

• Previous Transportation or operational experience is preferred (City Driving or Shunting); at least 1-year experience driving a shunt truck is preferred.  
• Class 1 license preferred but not necessary with applicable experience. 
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. 
• Self-motivated. 
• Safety-minded. 
• Communication skills – good. 
• Able to work deadlines in high transactional environment.

Schedule: 6:30pm - 6:30am Rotating 3 day and 4 day weeks.

In this role, you will be responsible for the coordination and planning of our rail delivery logistics in a fast-paced environment supporting our rail refinery. You will use your expertise to coordinate rail operations with our partners including railways, terminals and trans loaders, and liaise with carriers and terminals to ensure the efficient and effective transportation of material by rail.

Minimum Requirements:

• 2 years of experience in an operational or regulatory environmental role, covering all aspects of product delivery for all modes of transportation

• A post-secondary education in Business or Engineering

• Knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), and various related regulations

• Strong computer skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP

• Exceptional communication skills to collaborate with others and achieve the best results

• Excellent attention to detail, analytical, problem solving, and time management skills

Responsibilities:

• Build strong relationships with diverse groups to engage third party terminals to ensure the product is handled safely, efficiently and in a cost-effective manner

• Support effective administrative operations through effective cost control and budget processes

• Liaise with product delivery personnel, contract carriers and other suppliers to ensure reliable delivery

• Manage the tank inventory and product transfer at terminals

• Maintain rail fleet and build the maintenance schedule for repair activities

• Investigate incidents, recommend corrective actions and monitor action plan

• You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.

• Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
