We’re looking for a talented Mine Planning Engineer to join our Albian Long Range Mine Planning team. In this role, you'll play a critical part in developing and optimizing integrated long-range mine plans. Collaborating with cross-functional teams—including technical experts, operations staff, and regulatory stakeholders—you’ll support strategic mine development and work to maximize asset value.

Key Accountabilities:
- Collaborate with key stakeholders across operations, geotechnical, geology, tailings, and regulatory teams to develop and optimize detailed mine plans and schedules to enable safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations at the Albian oil sands site that support overall business objectives
- Lead the development of Albian’s life-of-mine plans and assess alternative strategies to maximize long-term value and sustainability
- Oversee mine design projects including pit shells, haul roads, dumps, and dyke structures to ensure alignment with strategic goals and contribute to the development and evolution of mine closure plans and assist in the preparation of supporting regulatory submissions
- Maintain and update mining models and engineering designs to ensure accuracy and consistency with operational requirements and monitor, analyze, and report on mine performance metrics, providing insights and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
- Drive value creation by optimizing the integrated mine plan, with a focus on reducing operating and capital costs and support the implementation and continuous improvement of mine engineering standards, systems, and processes to ensure technical excellence and operational consistency
What You Bring to the Role:
- Degree in Mining, Civil, or Geological Engineering with APEGA registration (or eligibility to register).
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in open-pit mining or oil sands operations
- Experience with mine design software such as Vulcan, Deswik, and CAD
- Strong understanding of fleet management, oil sands geology, mine planning, and mining economics
- Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license with no driving restrictions

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who will provide Mechanical Engineering expertise for Sales & Marketing Projects, Maintenance & Operations, focused on safe, operable and reliable designs. Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering

- Ability to interpret and audit engineering design drawings for safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness

Responsibilities:
- Develop, manage, and interpret engineering design standards, including new technology assessments
- Ensure compliance with governing regulations (TSSA, MRN, NFPA, PTMAA), identify, assess and implement necessary changes
- Conduct technical reviews and approvals for standard deviations, project decisions, and management of change notices
- Provide technical guidance to project, maintenance and operations teams.
- Implement process safety, value engineering, and safety in design principles
- Perform engineering squad checks on Design Permit and IFC packages, Service / Material requisitions, bid evaluations, and engineering studies / proposals
- Conduct technical / quality audits on engineering consultant designs and Engineering practices
- Participate in vendor technical surveillance to ensure equipment quality
- Support incident investigations using risk management tools
- Assist field teams with technical queries and resolution of RFIs/FCNs
Location & Other Key Details:
- This is an office-based role. You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday

As our Mechanical Engineer, you are responsible for the developing mechanical system and component designs for a variety of processing facilities which meet client requirement while also supporting the project team and coordinating design groups.
Position Overview:
- Participates in the conceptual proposal and execution phases of the projects, working with the Business Development team, Project Planners, Front-end Design team, and Project Managers to provide design concepts and layouts as well as equipment sizing. May interact directly with the client or the client’s representative, to clarify and satisfy unique or complex requirements.
- Stays current with applicable technologies, standards, products, and regulations. Specifically requires direct knowledge of CSA, ASME, and other relevant design codes related to piping, boilers and pressure vessel, and process design.
- Works with the design team to prepare system and component designs which considers site conditions, process requirements, costs, and regulatory requirements. Evaluates and incorporates subcontractor/supplier information and requirements where necessary.
- Works collaboratively with Project Management team and other members of the Engineering and Design team to prepare detailed design drawings and reports to meet the client’s requirements.
- Works with the team to develop drawings and to promote a high-quality high value product.
- Responsible to seal drawings that have been prepared under their direction as required in jurisdiction where professional designation is recognized. Provide required information to assist Engineers in other jurisdictions to seal drawings.
- Visits worksite to inspect work, commission equipment, process controls, and train operator to ensure project is proceeding according to the approved design.
- Makes ongoing design changes as required throughout the project.
Qualifications Needed:
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical or Process Engineering with a P.Eng. designation in multiple provinces and/or states.
- At least five years design engineering experience in the industry is preferred.
- At least five year’s experience in the design-build industry is preferred.
- Computer skills that includeproficiency with Word and Excel.
- A practical yet creative approach to problem solving. Open-minded with a willingness to consider new ideas.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills. Able to work as part of a team. Must not be overly sensitive to challenges or criticism.
- High degree of accuracy and able to manage multiple details under tight deadlines and pressure.
- Travel required which includes some extended stays
