Finning Canada is seeking a Yard / Warehouse Person to join our team supporting our Calgary TCRS location on a full time Monday to Friday shift. As the Yard Person you are responsible for assisting with the day to day yard duties for the Branch. This is a temporary position.

 

Job Description:

  • Loads and unloads company trucks, inspects equipment prior to shipment and on return for serviceability.
  • Notifies the shop foreman on damaged or missing equipment.
  • Assists rental counter personnel in selection of “rental ready” equipment for each transaction.
  • Processes equipment returns and closing rental contracts.
  • Performs other equipment inquiries through the company’s computerized programming.
  • Verifies fuel consumed and inspects all details of equipment when returned.
  • Installs service tags on equipment returned from rental.
  • Moves rental ready equipment back to proper storage areas following routine maintenance procedures by service shop.
  • Presents ready-to-rent equipment in an orderly fashion.
  • Performs general house-keeping of both the warehouse and yard.

 

Customer Service Responsibilities:

  • Greets customers in yard, helping direct them to office or unloading areas
  • Assists customers and delivery drivers in loading and unloading rental equipment
  • Gives customers start/stop and general operating instructions on rental equipment
  • Follow approved shipping and receiving protocols to safely load/unload customer parts and components
  • Accurately handle all incoming and outgoing paperwork

Qualifications:

  • High School graduate
  • Due to physical nature of the work, a requirement of the job is to be considered fit for work

  • Experience with heavy equipment or a similar industry would be considered an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with effective verbal and written communication skills

  • This position is for a Monday to Friday shift schedule, based in Calgary
  • Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current collective agreement

Business Partnership / Customer Service

  • Collaborate and work proactively with business leaders, including senior leaders and/or general managers, in the areas of annual workforce planning, succession planning, talent management and leadership coaching.
  • Partner closely with the Global Centers of Excellences (COE) to implement human resources strategies, practices, processes, and programs that align to strategic goals and business priorities.
  • Be recognized as a trusted business partner to the Finning leadership team and provide council on HR, workforce and leadership matters and issues.
  • Develop a deep knowledge of Finning’s business to more effectively support business leaders.
  • Ensure compliance and provide guidance related to regulatory requirements.

 

Labor Relations / Employee Relations

  • Coach and advise front-line managers in the interpretation and application of applicable Collective Agreements and/or other related Corporate policies.
  • Facilitate and support leadership through the investigation process, including investigation resolution, progressive discipline application and potential employee termination.
  • Assist leaders in addressing employee behavioral and performance concerns utilizing Finning performance management tools and conflict resolution strategies.

Major Job Functions:

Portfolio Management:

  • Administer collection activity and build and maintain the credit history file in utilized enterprise resource system (M3, SalesLink or other assigned systems
  • Manage assigned accounts, includes contacting customers to follow up on accounts, reviewing accounts and notes receivables reports regularly to identify follow up requirements, monitoring and communicating customer portfolio and regional customer metrics to internal stakeholders, processing small balance write off, account adjustment, and account reconciliation, and resolving dispute, discrepancies and short payments
  • Assist in branches when receiving request for Deferral’s, General Security Agreements (GSA), garage man's liens and escalate to Senior CAR.
  •  Negotiate repayment arrangements within a 90 day repayment period; escalate to Team Lead and or Sr. AR Manager for protracted periods.
  • Collect on past due accounts and report to Account Receivable Team Lead and or Senior AR Manager on accounts requiring legal action, repossession, bad debt write off and identified as risk.

Customer Service:

  • Provide customer service on accounts, includes forwarding invoices, processing credit card authorization forms, processing customer refund request; completion of Netting forms, Write-Off forms, Credit Matrix, and submission to the appropriate assigned signing authority.
  • Responding to customer enquiries, by promptly answering the queue line.
  • Reconciliation of AR accounts as required

Credit Approval:

  • Approve credit releases for parts, service and rentals request and authorize requests over the set credit limit

Reporting:

  • Prepare weekly & monthly AR reports as assigned
  • Other assigned duties as required

 

Accountability:

  • Meet or exceed set collection targets (60 to 90 day targets) and bad debt targets and reduce delinquency rates for assigned accounts, as outlined in corporate guidelines
  • Regular, proactive and consistent contact with customers assigned and accurate and timely account and process information and documentation, as required
  • Monitor and communicate customer portfolio metrics (e.g. delinquency notes, portfolio ageing and identified risks) to applicable internal stakeholders and Accounts Receivable Team Lead
  • Identify and act on accounts requiring legal action through communicating with Accounts Receivable Team Lead, Senior CAR, or  Senior AR Manager on areas of concern
  • Represent the company in a professional and ethical manner and establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with customers, branches and all internal relationships while maintaining confidentiality
  • Adhere to policies and procedures outlined in the Credit Department Policies and or Procedures

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of high volume corporate collections experience
  • 1-3 years’ experience processing accounts receivable
  • Proficient in MS Office Applications
  • Knowledgeable of the Personal Property Security Act (PPSA), Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA)
  • Knowledgeable of basic business law and basic tax law
  • Knowledgeable of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP), credit procedures and CCAA (Customer Credit Agreement Act)
