About this opportunity:
Cenovus is looking for a Maintenance Technician, Millwright. The primary function of this trades position is to provide millwright service to the Lloydminster Thermal Assets with support to the Conventional Heavy Oil as needed. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring all work under your control is performed in a timely, safe, and effective manner consistent with corporate and site-specific policies, procedures, and guidelines. You will be required to work off a developed maintenance schedule but will also be required to work on priority work depending on plant needs at that time. You will be required provide leads/planners updates on jobs statutes as needed. Support planners on job package development as needed.

This position is in the Lloydminster region and requires the successful candidate to live in the area

This is a full-time employee position Monday - Friday, 8 hour-days with occasional OT on an as needed basis as well as a defined on-call rotation
What you’ll do:

Complete repairs on various equipment within the Lloydminster Thermal facilities such as but not limited to, centrifugal pumps, chemical pumps, progressive cavity pumps, positive displacement reciprocating pumps and air compressors. Will support the Lloydminster Conventional Heavy Oil as necessary

Perform preventative maintenance and inspections

Maintains equipment history records using computer systems (SAP)

General trade knowledge in mechanical seals, alignment, various styles of pumps, compressors, couplings, bearings and lubrication

What you’ll do:

Work closely with Maintenance Trades Leads to develop and revise maintenance procedures and with the Maintenance Scheduler to ensure that the daily schedule is maintained and updated

Support operators to ensure safeguards are in place and functioning, and that you are knowledgeable on emergency shutdown systems, emergency response plans, and the operability of safety devices

Provide on-site supervision and mentoring to service providers and less expert Mechanics, perform facility and field inspections, complete site observations, and report any deficiencies

Mechanical maintenance and construction experience to ensure equipment is installed and maintained according to the applicable industry codes, standards, and regulations, with the ability to simultaneously handle a variety of work tasks and priorities and make decisions and recommendations on technical issues

Experience with rigging equipment for equipment lifts on picker trucks and cranes and overhead building cranes, and with various mechanical tooling such as hydraulic and precision alignment tools

Knowledge in Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), process piping and Pressure Safety Devices (PSV), and experience with rotating and stationary equipment condition supervising such as oil sampling, airborne ultrasound, infrared thermography, and vibration analysis

SUMMARY OF POSITION
- This role will report to the Shop Manager and is responsible for maintaining Wright Constructions vehicles and equipment in safe working order.
- The Mechanic will ensure that all equipment meet all government regulations and standards for safety, as well as company safety standards.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Order parts and shop supplies as required

- Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend solutions. Support the implementation of new processes, technologies, and cultural change initiatives aligned with proactive maintenance practices.
- Ensure accurate completion of work orders, inspections, and other maintenance records. Support audits, compliance checks, and internal reviews as needed.
- Perform additional duties and assignments as required in support of fleet maintenance operations.
Qualifications
- Journeyperson Certification (Truck and Transport, Heavy Duty, Automotive) is required.
- Possession of a valid Red Seal Journeyperson license in a relevant trade
- Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) designation.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in fleet maintenance operations, including at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
- Experience in public transit or large fleet environments is an asset.
- Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Clean SGI Driver’s Abstract.
- Proven leadership and supervisory abilities in a unionized environment.
- Strong knowledge of fleet maintenance practices, diagnostics, and safety regulations.
- Ability to interpret work plans and schedules and translate them into efficient action on the shop floor.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
