Dock Planner Full-time Job

Planning, organizing and monitoring incoming and outgoing freight to ensure the most timely and efficient utilization of dock space, equipment and movement of freight.
How You’ll Help
- Review routing matrix and manifests in order to:
- Plan for trailers to be stripped and for LTL and TL loads.
- Assign trailer to dock door for greatest efficiency.
- Monitor the availability of trailers (single and LCVs) to make the greatest use of all resources.
- Ensure all trailer and route planning is in accordance with transportation laws and company policies regarding weight and weight distribution, cubing, transportation of dangerous goods, etc.
- Monitor and review close times and productivity, noting trends to support improvement initiatives.
- Make suggestions for improvement in planning and dock processes for increased efficiency.
- Other related duties as may be required.
Your Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of secondary education, with preference for post-secondary education in Supply Chain or Logistics Management.
- A suitable combination of education and experience may also be considered.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in dock operations, preferably in the transportation industry.
- Other experience in the transportation may also be considered and in addition to dock experience would be an asset.
- Strong communication skills in both English and French.
- Advanced computer skills with strong Excel capability as well as experience with other MS Office products and web based programs. Previous experience with AS-400 is an asset.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast paced environment.
- Strong sense of urgency and ability to respond to demands in a calm manner.
- Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills to manage demands and resolve issues.
- Strong problem solving skills with the ability to implement proactive solutions to support operational demands and efficiencies.

Responsibilities:
- Repairs all UPS package cars and equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace
- Use diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical problems
- Ensures all vehicles are maintained regularly and in a timely manner
- Communicate effectively in a team work environment
- Performs routine PMI (Preventive Maintenance Inspection) and Maintenance repairs.
Qualifications and or Requirements:
- Bilingual
- Ability to lift 70 lbs./32 kgs.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record (Required)
- Must be able to work Monday - Friday (7:00 pm – 3:30 am) (require)
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic components of vehicles
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment and occasionally outdoors
- Possession of essential hand tools. Such as pneumatic tools and more.(required)
- must possess of a PEP card heavy duty or light duty mechanic license. (required)

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Operations Director, the Mechanic is responsible for the operations of this position, maintaining machinery, equipment and vehicles functional. His role is to perform the installation, maintenance and repairs, both electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic, of the equipment and vehicles used at work. Do what is necessary to keep the garage clean and tidy at all times. The Mechanic performs all of the following functions;
- Ensures the optimal operational maintenance of all equipment and vehicles;
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment according to established schedule. Performs various troubleshooting, repair and manufacturing tasks on equipment;
- Participates in equipment adjustments. Performs repairs written on work sheets left by drivers;
- Works from maintenance or manufacturing schedules, detailed drawings, sketches, specifications, manuals, or verbal and written instructions;
- Mechanically assembles machinery. Recommends possible modifications to equipment;
- Perform periodic maintenance operations such as oil changes, lubrication, brakes, tire rotations, etc.
- Organize your work according to requests and the availability of equipment to be repaired
- See to ordering the parts required for manufacturing and repairs as needed;
- Be aware of and work in accordance with current safety standards and regulations;
- May be called upon to train and provide coaching when required;
- Actively participates in improving the department's productivity, improving products and working methods.
SKILLS
Education and experience:
- DEP in heavy vehicle mechanics or other relevant training and experience;
- Mechanics: 1 year (Desired)
Competence profile:
- A minimum welding skill is required, any additional certifications or qualifications will be considered an asset;
- Any electrical knowledge will be considered an asset;
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoors regardless of changing seasonal conditions;
- Must be able to work overtime when required;
- Know how to drive heavy manual trucks. Having a class 1 or 3 is an asset
- Must be available to be on call in the evenings and weekends on a rotating basis.
