Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers, order supplies and equipment, storytelling, assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records
- The candidates should be able to support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children, engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts
- The candidates should be able to maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties, prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods, submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
- The candidates should be able to discuss the progress and problems of children at staff meetings, attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
- The candidates should be able to plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours

- Monitors the activities of children ranging in age from two months to five years, ensuring an environment and atmosphere conducive to safe, enjoyable activity.
- Ensures that the activity area is neat and clean and that the equipment is safe.
- Provides basic activities such as story-telling, crafts and games.
- Performs parental duties such as changing diapers, comforting, as required.
- Completes attendance sheets and evaluation forms, as required.
- Cleans toys and equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience Requirements
- Grade 10 education.
- One year’s related child-care experience.
- Possession of valid recognized CPR and first aid certificates.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
- Knowledge of current child-care standards and practices.
- Knowledge of first aid practices.
- Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with children, the public and staff.
