The Communications Advisor will contribute to communication activities such as development of communications materials, media relations, program execution and relationship building. The Advisor will support the Canadian Tire and L’Équipeur banners in Quebec.

• Develop and execute communication plans that meet business and stakeholder requirements while ensuring consistent, timely and efficient communications
• Act as communications lead on various projects, working closely with business project teams to contribute to integrated communications plans
• Build and maintain relationships with media and social media influencers and identify key opportunities, working independently or in conjunction with a PR agency
• Respond in a timely manner to requests for information, photos and products, which includes sourcing product in stores
• Develop communications materials such as media lists, interview briefs, speeches, news releases, Q&As, fact sheets, etc.
• Track media and influencer coverage and report on results
• Collaborate with the in-house events team or PR agency to organize media and influencer events
• Track budgets and invoices

What you bring

• Media relations experience in the Quebec market
• Experience with social media influencers in the Quebec market
• Event coordination experience is an asset
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related degree/diploma
• Minimum of 3 years communications or public relations experience
• Ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver programs and tactics on time and on budget in a fast-paced environment

• High level of bilingualism (English and French), both spoken and written

What you’ll do

Reporting to the AVP, Cyber Governance Risk and Compliance, the Senior Information Security Specialist, Governance and Compliance will lead the charge in maintaining cyber security policies and standards, responding to regulator and auditor inquiries, and providing an advisory function to the business surrounding cyber security governance.

• Provide senior level advisory services to cybersecurity, technology teams, and business team members, as required

• Maintain cyber security policies and standards

• Respond to external inquires regarding cyber security (e.g. ESG, regulators, etc.)

• Analyze and assess cyber security related business scenarios and prepares/presents position papers providing risk-based recommendations to assist the leadership team in making informed decisions

• Oversee and provide guidance on the cyber security configuration compliance management program for both on prem and cloud environments

• Oversee and provide guidance on the cyber security vulnerability, configuration & patch remediation management programs

• Oversee and provide guidance on the Cloud security compliance management program

• Design and perform annual reviews of configuration benchmarks for teams to follow for new and existing systems

• Manage the cyber security policy exemption management processes by assessing policy exception requests, maintaining the exception workflows, and updating and keeping current the exception database

• Keep current with ongoing trends and changes within the cyber security community

What you bring

• University degree preferably in an IT related discipline

• CISSP, and/or CISM, and/or CISA, and/or CRISC designations would be an asset

• 8-10+ years experience in information security, and/or IT Audit/Compliance, and/or external audit

• Strong understanding of IT, cloud and cyber security concepts and best practices

• Understands cyber security risks and control frameworks including NIST CSF, CIS, COBIT 5, and ISO 270001

• Experience with security assessment tools such as Tripwire, Nexpose, MS Defender, McAfee EPO, Kenna, etc.

• Understanding of Agile concepts and practices

• Ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels from technical staff to company leadership team

• Proven ability to weigh business needs with information security priorities and make sound risk-based judgement calls

• Experienced with analyzing and assessing cyber security related business scenarios, performing risk assessments, and preparing position papers outlining sound, risk-based recommendations

• Experienced with analyzing and assessing cyber security policy exception requests and providing risk-based recommendations

• Experience overseeing cyber security configuration compliance programs

• Experience overseeing cyber security vulnerability & patch management programs

• Experience overseeing Cloud security compliance management programs

• Experience with developing security baselines based on industry accepted CIS benchmark, MS Azure security benchmark, PCI DSS benchmark, etc and conduct regular reviews to update existing custom baselines

• Experience with Microsoft Azure Portal/Security Center to monitor and manage vulnerabilities, security policy compliance and all outstanding Microsoft recommendations

• Familiar with KQL (Kusto query language) to develop scripts to query Microsoft Azure policy database to report compliance status

• Technical knowledge including Linux, Windows, AIX, databases, network and security appliances and firewalls/IDS/IPS, web and cloud-based applications, secure coding practices, and cloud security

Reporting to the Manager, Physical Security & Gatehouse Operations. The Security Guard will act as first line of response for all security related incidents and inquiries including transportation transactions through our Gatehouses within GTA Operations Supply Chain locations. 

• Check all vehicles and visitors in and out of the Distribution Centre yard and perform vehicle searches as appropriate.

• Watch for and report irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards and emergency situations; contact emergency responders, such as police, fire and/or ambulance personnel, and escalate to leadership as outlined in standard operating procedures.

• Provide overall yard security; through patrols, observation and reporting and perform building security duties as assigned.

• Monitor closed circuit television to ensure security of facilities and company property.

• Confirm security, compliance and integrity of commercial vehicle loads and support compliance with legislated guidelines for the transportation of Dangerous Goods.

• Assist with reconciliation of Yard Checks and trailer locates.

• Accurately report on key security measurements through detailed report and record keeping.

• Communicate and support the movement of commercial vehicles in/out of shipping and receiving areas and provide needed support to other areas within the Toronto Operations sites including:  transportation, vehicle control, dispatch office and other key areas as identified.

• Confirm all loads inbound and outbound for verification of seal compliance and load integrity.

Hours and Location of Work

• 24/day, 7 days a week with a dedicated shift to be confirmed

• All Toronto Operations Distribution & Gatehouse locations

Pre-Requisites  

• Provincially licensed to work as a Security Guard in the Province of Ontario.

• Valid Security License.

• Must meet all physical requirements of the job (Medium Physical requirements) including standing and or walking for extended periods of time and the ability to do overhead lifting.

• Must have a proven record of superior attendance standards.

• Must undergo a yearly criminal and credit background check with successful results (bondable).

• Valid Class G Driver’s License in good standing. Abstract to be provided.
