Job Responsibilities:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Mechanical Millwright is primarily responsible to service, maintain and test production equipment. This position will support production by trouble shooting problems, making repairs and system improvements (optimization).
- Assembles and installs new equipment and machines and is able to make modifications to existing equipment as requested.
- Carries out preventative maintenance procedures on mechanical equipment as laid out by the manufacturer’s specifications.
- Coordinate activities of co-op students, apprentices, helpers and assigned contractors.
- Assists in developing and/or updating Preventive Maintenance procedures.
- Perform all duties in an environmentally responsible manner in accordance with the Karmax Environmental Policy Statement—3 P’s. Prevent Pollution, Preserve Natural Resources & Protect our Environment
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 Education or GED
- Certificate of Qualification Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) 433
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical and organizational skills
- Able to perform various computer functions (Microsoft Office, Production Software)
- Able to safely operate all Material Handling Equipment (Forklift, crane, buggy) in assigned area of responsibility
- Experience in hydraulics and pneumatics
- Able to operate a variety of machine tools, i.e. tig/mig/arc welders, lathes, milling machines, hand tools, etc.
COMPENSATION PACKAGE AND PERQUISITES:
- Hourly wage of $46.61/hr
- Shift Premiums $1.00/hr extra for afternoon shift and $1.25/hr extra for night shift
- 2 Weeks Vacation after 6 months of employment, 4 Personal Paid Holidays and 2 Floater Days
- Ability to lieu 40 hours of overtime for an additional paid week off

Our Bus Fleet Maintenance team is seeking a Serviceperson II on contract for up to 12 months to service buses under the supervision of the Supervisor, Fleet Maintenance.
What will I be doing?
- Servicing, fuelling, parking and Bus cleaning as it relates to the fuel and mop lines.
- Performing change-offs as required
- Services the bus fleet by fuelling, sweeping, driving, and checking buses, circle check inspections, and performing minor repairs.
- Performs interior, exterior and maintenance cleaning duties on the bus, and support fleets.
- Completes on-the-road change-offs and road calls.
- Performs spills containment and clean up.
- Performs emission tests.
- Performs wheel-nut torques.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Knowledge of motor vehicle repairs normally attained through completion of a high school program with an emphasis on motor vehicle repairs.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in servicing buses or heavy equipment, as well as, assisting with repairs in bus or heavy vehicle maintenance environment.
- Must successfully complete mandatory environmental, safety and all other training required by corporate policy including new courses that are or could be adjusted with these policies
- Knowledge of vehicle repairs and evolving technologies including new Electric Vehicles (EV) would be considered an asset.
- Must have a valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s licence and must meet corporate standard for a good driving record. A Driver’s Abstract (within the last 3 months) will be required of the successful candidate(s).
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Class “C” driver’s licence and “Z” endorsement.
- Must be able to obtain GO Transit Forklift driving certificate.
- Must successfully complete environmental, safety and any other training required by corporate policy.
- Ability to obtain job related certifications as required.
Available Shifts/Locations:
12 month contract - East Gwillimbury Bus Garage - 19:00-05:00 Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. OFF on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Note: This is a unionized position. As such, specific home bases, locations, shifts, shift hours and/or days off are assigned based on seniority and may be changed due to operational needs. They may include weekends, evenings, split shifts & holidays.

The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Shop Supervisor or Site Lead Hand, the Welder/Fitter ideally has 5-10 years of experience in a Fabrication or Machine Shop/Job shop environment. The Welder can perform custom welding/fabrication and has experience in machine repair/rebuild and custom fabrication.
A technical diploma is preferred, while holding an Ontario Certificate of Qualification in Welding (456A). Preference will be given to candidates who also possess a Certificate of Qualification in Machinist (429A) and/or Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A). The Welder/Fitter is familiar with welding using MIG/TIG/Stick operations and cutting tools like plasma and oxyacetylene. Job aid design/fabrication such as jigs, fixtures, gauges or familiarity with equipment like a waterjet, shear and brake press, working with Stainless Steel and Aluminum is a benefit.
The Welder/Fitter follows company policies, standards and guidelines as they apply to all activities including applying Standard Operating Procedures in his/her work.
The Welder/Fitter has strong leadership and communication skills, works well in a team environment, is responsible and is open to change. The person is results oriented and quality driven.

- Fabricates and makes repairs using a variety of standard shop tools to weld stainless steel (TIG/MIG/SMAW).
- Construction and manufacturing of metal work aids.
- Reads and interprets mechanical drawings, technical drawings and work-process documentation.
- Enhances equipment performance by recommending improvements and implementing designs.
- Operates production mechanical equipment such as Waterjet, Brake Press and Shear.
- Accounts for inventory usage and labour on shop work order system.
