The Accountabilities:

• Provide screening and primary care health services for Medcan patients
• Based on history and physical examination provide clinical guidance and recommendations
• Evaluate the patient’s health, make diagnoses on clinical conditions, prescribe, and administer medications, treatments, and follow-up care with internal or external specialists
• Educate, advise, and empower patients on primary and secondary preventive health care
• Provide counseling and support to patients on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues
• Participate in Medcan business initiatives including continuing medical education, innovation, research, product development, support, and guidance

The Requirements:

• Commit to working at Medcan for a minimum of two (2) days per week and one Saturday per month
• Current registration in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
• An active OHIP billing number
• CCFP designation, CCFP (EM) designation, or FRCPC designation
• Physicians who recently completed their residency will be considered
• Experience in preventive care and wellness is an asset
• Ability to respectfully and tactfully interact and collaborate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders from diverse backgrounds in a collegial, empathetic manner

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Coordination

• Acts as the first point-of-contact for environmental, health, safety and security inquiries and incidents
• Provides guidance to account team members on environmental, health, safety and security matters, and escalates inquiries, where appropriate
• Coordinates the implementation of environmental, health, safety and security programs along with related processes, procedures and resources
• Coordinates environmental, health, safety and security activities including but not limited to health and safety committee meetings and activities, incident investigation and resolution, security clearances, equipment and systems registration, emergency response procedures and business continuity planning activities, training, return-to-work, annual management system re-registration, compliance audit
• Researches environmental, health, safety and security matters, provides findings and recommendations
• Maintains and assists with the creation of environmental, health and safety documentations including but not limited to plans, processes, procedures
• Creates and maintains documentations including but not limited to instruction sheets, check lists, forms, training materials
• Maintains business continuity and emergency management plans and procedures
• Participates in field inspections, job observations; health, safety and environment audits and other types of reviews for the purpose of monitoring compliance to health, safety and environment requirements and identifying risks. Provides findings about risks and suggestions for improvement

Incident Investigation, Resolution & Reduction

• Assists in the investigation and resolution of incidents including root-cause analysis and providing probable causes of incidents and recommendations for resolution
• Coordinates the implementation of corrective and preventative measures
• Assists in the identification and analysis of trends. Communicates observations and provides suggestions for incident reduction measures

Audit Compliance, Data Maintenance & Reporting

• Maintains all environmental, health, safety and security-related data including but not limited to incident data, criminal record checks, compliance data within applicable databases and all other types of information storage systems
• Assists in the audit of compliance records and all other environmental, health, safety and security data
• Prepares and distributes various environmental, health, safety and security-related reports including but not limited to incident reports
• Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

• College degree completed
• Certification in one or more of the following – Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, Certificate in Environmental Management through a Community College; or University degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences
• 1 to 3 years of environmental, health , safety and security work experience

Understanding of environmental, health and safety regulatory requirements

• Understanding of emergency management requirements

Overview of the Role

Responsible for all activities and education related to health and safety, legislation. Providing guidance to our employees to adopt the best behavior and procedures to reflect the priority and focus we have on health and safety. This role acts as an ambassador of our culture and values and will be responsible for the facilities in Ontario: St. Marys and Orangeville.

Salary:  $78,170 to $117,260 annually

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

• A degree/diploma in Health and Safety or equivalent work experience. Registered as Canadian registered safety professional (CRSP) is preferred.
• 2-3 years of Health and Safety experience in a medium to large organization.
• Possess a thorough understanding of Human and Organizational Performance, CSA standards and Ontario provincial regulations.
• Ability to travel to Ontario sites and work all shifts as required.
• Recognized leadership and autonomy, excellent communication, planning and work organization skills.
• Team oriented and strong ability to engage people.

Group Summary:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Establish & maintain systems for managing P&F safety and environmental programs required by the Occupational Health & Safety act, Ministry of Environment and corporate standards, including:
• Identifies, Initiates, arranges and presents Employee safety & environmental training.
• Maintain certification to ISO-14001 and its successors in Canada.
• Review with Maintenance Manager annually safety/environment policies and procedures.
• Monitor operations, in close cooperation with the Maintenance/Facility Manager for compliance to all health, safety, environmental legislation, corporate requirements to satisfy requirements of ISO-14001 & Workwell requirements. Make recommendations to improve compliance to those standards.
• Review accident/incident investigation reports and ensure corrective action is completed (departments fill out actual accident reports).
• Coordinate activities (and effectiveness) of Health, Safety & Environmental committee.
• Coordinate activities (and effectiveness) of Ergonomic Committee.
• Identify and ensures communication on mandatory Personal Protection and regular review of requirements per area within P&F.
• Guides and provides active support in all HSE questions.
• Ensures P&F Tool & Die and P&F Systems are successfully passing all audits and meet all legal requirements including MAGNA.
• Developing HSE Standards that meets P&F requirements and legal requirements and finding best solution.
