Major Responsibilities:

 

  • Reviews, analyzes and reconciles accounts and ensures compliance with related legislation, established divisional and corporate policies, procedures and practices and accounting principles

  • Performs calculations in order to prepare adjusting entries and statements of account
  • Identifies and resolves posting errors
  • Performs and maintains accounts receivable functions including bank deposits and reconciliations, preparing, reviewing, posting and reconciling journal entries
  • Tracks and monitors incoming cash, cheques and supporting documents
  • Maintains contact with clients
  • Reviews general ledger recoveries and adjustments, and reconciles recoveries
  • Provides financial analysis and other information to the Divisions

  2. Considerable experience using SAP financial system or equivalent financial systems.

SENIOR SECURITY COORDINATOR Full-time Job

Major Responsibilities  

 

Reporting to various Supervisors of Building Security, the Senior Security Coordinator provides and maintains a high level of security and life safety services to City employees and members of the public visiting City facilities. Responsibilities include: 

 

  • Implements detailed plans and recommends policies/procedures regarding program specific requirements
  • Supervises the day to day operation of all assigned staff including the scheduling, assigning and reviewing of work. Authorizes and coordinates vacation and overtime requests. Recommends disciplinary action when necessary
  • Provides input into and administers assigned budget, ensuring that expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations
  • Represents Corporate Security to City divisions and acts as the security divisional contact for day to day security operations, investigations and emergency situations
  • Provides advice, consultation and support to local property managers and senior management staff on security systems, hardware, policies and procedures, health and safety and life safety compliance
  • Provides security services to City owned and operated properties through various security systems and supervision of in-house staff and contracted firms.
  • Ensures staff adherence to and enforcement of security policies and various related Acts and Codes, including the Criminal Code and Trespass to Property Act
  • Provides project management services related to planned and on-demand security system installation and maintenance to ensure all standards, contracts and obligations are fulfilled
  • Represents the Corporate Security's service interests at Community Council meetings and on various workgroups, committees and project teams, as they relate to security, health and safety and emergency, labour disruption and event planning
  • Develops and implements Divisional Security Plans
  • Develops site specific standards, site plans, policies and procedures. Provides and enhances security at City facilities to integrate with the Unit’s standard work plan and procedures
  • Conducts security audits and implements cost effective solutions consistent with the overall vision of the Unit
  • Creates security plans for large events and conducts briefings and debriefings with staff in
  • relation to these events
  • Exchanges information with various City and external groups before and after completion of large events at City facilities
  • Plays a leadership role in diffusing potentially dangerous situations, such as protests, demonstrations, labour disruptions and emergencies
  • Conducts pro-active patrols of facilities
  • Checks Security Occurrence reports, corrects deficiencies and conducts investigations. Checks log books, personal memo books and ensures policy adherence. Attends court as a City witness as required
  • Liaises with local police divisions, various law enforcement  personnel, local Police divisions, emergency response agencies, local property owners and related organizations.
  • Lead, motivates, coaches and develops security staff through highly developed interpersonal and customer service skills, including conflict resolution, problem solving and communication skills
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of common security policies and various related Acts, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Employment Standards Act and Labour Relations Act.
  • Coordinates the preparation and compiles complete tender documents and specifications for tenders, Requests for Tenders, Requests for Quotations (RFQ), Requests for Expressions of Interest (REOI), and Requests for Proposals (RFP) for capital and operational contracts
  • Provides first level of Supervision to Security Guards including recruitment, selection, performance appraisal, deployment, all levels of discipline and professional development to ensure skilled competent resources
  • Responds to inquiries and complaints in an effective and professional manner
  • Maintains a high level of functional knowledge of technical information to provide all aspects of modern corporate security and protection for large and small building complexes and special events
  • Provides 24/7 coverage for emergencies

 

Key Qualifications:  

 

  1. Post-secondary education in a discipline pertinent to the job function combined with relevant security experience, or the equivalent combination of education and/or related experience.
  2. Licensed as a Security Guard / Private Investigator under the Ontario Private Security Investigative Services Act.
  3. Considerable experience in modern corporate building security for large and small building complexes.
  4. Considerable experience with various security hardware, software, keying and systems.
  5. Experience providing work direction, leading, coaching and/or training staff.
  6. Must possess a valid Ontario Driver's License Class "G" with the ability to qualify for a City Equipment Operator's License, and able and willing to drive within the Greater Toronto area.

 Major Responsibilities:

 

  • Operates heavy motorized equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Operates powered vehicles and equipment, including rubber-tired and track-type front end loaders, backhoes, gradalls, roll-off trucks and tractor-trailers
  • Secures open top trailers using straps, ratchets and crank handle to secure tarps
  • Maintains vehicles in a clean and tidy condition and makes daily inspection, reports defects and maintains a Driver's Log, as required by the HTA and City policies
  • Directs activities and may provide work direction to other staff
  • Assists workers in various Transfer Station functions, including, but not limited to, loading and unloading of trailers, hook-up, cranking landing gear, and opening and securing trailer doors, etc.
  • Shunting of tractors and trailers at Transfer Stations
  • Installs or assists in installing equipment attachments

  1. Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Province of Ontario, Class "A" Driver's License (with "Z" endorsement), and must qualify for the City's Equipment operating permits and requirements.
