The Role
We are looking for an experienced IAM Architecture and Engineering Director to join our organization. As the director, you will be responsible for providing direction, oversight and strategic management of Scotiabank's portfolio of global IAM solutions. The director is accountable for delivering complex solutions against IAM roadmap covering solution architecture & design, development & integration to ensure the utmost security and efficiency in access control.   • You have proven experience of the IAM industry and expert understanding of IAM technologies including Virtual Directory Services (VDS), Single Sign-On (SSO), Active Directory Federated Services (ADFS) and Active Directory (AD) platforms, Identity and Access Governance (IAG), Identity Providers (IDP), Identity Provisioning, Adaptive / Biometric Authentication, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), and Cloud IAM.
  • You demonstrate strong knowledge of modern IAM protocols (such as SAML 2.0, OIDC, OAuth 2.0, SCIM), and frameworks (such as FIDO 2.0).
  • You have working experience with DevOps pipelines and tools, and strong knowledge of SDLC (define, design, build, test and deploy) practices.
  • You have experience with program delivery including planning and estimation.
  • You possess excellent people leadership managing 20+ team members and advanced communication (verbal/written/presentation) skills to deliver strong business-focused presentations. Spanish is an asset.
  • You have Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Delivers an Exceptional Customer Experience  by providing the best-in-class customer service  through the  timely and accurate handling of all inbound inquiries received via multiple channels (e.g.: fax  incoming mail, fax or other electronic methods)  within established Service Level Agreements and Service quality standards. This includes providing training to team members to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Ensures that the daily work volumes within the assigned reconciliation area are organized and distributed amongst the team resources and that service and quality levels are maintained.   • Balances and reconciles on behalf of domestic branches, multiple business and product owners, and third party vendors (e.g.: ABM service providers, Symcor) all related suspense accounts, monthly balancing and financial returns including taking appropriate action for corrections or adjustments.
  • Validates, maintains and reports where required on daily, monthly, quarterly, annual and periodic basis, activities related to GL balances, ABM Centralized deposit/Investigation and AFT.  Updates Customer Information System based on information received from customers, branches, business partners, and other units across Canada while maintaining the confidentiality of customer information at all times.
  • As the subject matter expert (SME) in Reconciliation, actively participates in consultations with partners for technology enhancements and takes initiative in identifying process enhancements that drive increased efficiencies within the unit.

  • Follows all Bank policies and procedures and codes of conduct. The Account Associate, Custody Services, provides and delivers proactive administrative and client service support to Account Managers and client portfolios of various size and complexity, servicing wealthy private clients, institutional investors and partners including investment counsellors and consultants, both internal and external to Scotiabank. The Account Associate may support specific Account Managers directly or be part of a Central Unit that supports various functions on behalf of Custody teams and other Scotiatrust branches nationally, performing in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Accountabilities

 

  • Assist the Account Manager or Central Team in providing a best in class, proactive and personalized client experience to high net worth clients and partners, exemplified by timely and accurate account administration coupled with demonstrated technical expertise, personal integrity and an ability to respond to stated and unstated client needs and concerns.
  • Provide effective back-up in the absence of the Account Manager or Account Associate peers by demonstrating a detailed knowledge of the accounts and/or administrative functions and by responding to the client and partner needs in a timely manner, referring matters to other resources where appropriate.
  • Proactively liaise with internal support groups (ie. GWO, SWM-Operations), to investigate and resolve issues, while also collaborating and sharing knowledge with colleagues and partners on processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Process new account openings, review and set-up client files in a timely and accurate manner. Assist with the collection and validation of client documentation and AML/KYC materials.
  • Process deposits, contributions, withdrawals, trade & forex and other client entries with a high degree of accuracy in accordance with policies, procedures and best practices.
  • Monitor account activity and cash positions ensuring adherence to policy and procedure and identify unusual account activity or operational issues to the Manager or Market Lead.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Ensuring thorough knowledge and strict adherence to the Bank’s Global Sales Practices.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls in order to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Dimensions

 

  • Operates in one of 3 regional teams in Canada supporting Account Managers or the Custody Services Manager (central team Toronto) in the daily servicing of client custodial accounts.
  • Daily interaction with mid-office support areas and with Scotia Wealth partners (i.e. 1832 AM LP, Jarislowsky Fraser, MD Mgmt, Private Banking)
  • Independent administration of accounts with authorization to approve payments up to $10k
  • Adopts and participates in various service improvement initiatives throughout the year
  • Utilizes Scotiatrust’s book of record system, Broadridge/CanTrust, and associated work flow tools
  • OSFI-regulated environment with developing knowledge of CRA-regulated registered plans

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma

The Role 
The Software Automation Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing technical solutions to support the Group Treasury business with a focus on automating existing manual processes, reducing the likelihood for human errors and improving operational processes. You will be required to participate in multiple projects, including technical design, use cases, and process workflow of complex business processes for internal clients. You must possess the ability to work with a team of technology focused peers and the ability to juggle multiple/concurrent tasks. You must thrive on challenge, be proactive, dynamic and demonstrate initiative and eagerness to learn. 

 

Some of the key accountabilities include:
Provide technology collaboration and be the ambassador for Automation across Group Treasury Technology.
Participate in aspects of a systems development life cycle within the development team (Requirements Analysis, Design, Development, Test, QA, Implementation and Support)
Be the Point of Contact for escalation on service operation including service availability and continuality
Analyze data in operational database environments including SQL Server
Optimizing and simplifying existing code and perform code reviews
Work closely with the stake holders to clarify requirements and to recommend best practices
Rewriting exiting framework and adding new code and functionalities
Lead initiatives to support continuous integration and improvement through technologies and process
Support Business as Usual Devops where applicable (may require off business hour support)


What You Will Bring to Succeed 

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required. 
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Software Engineer
  • 2-3 years of industry experience.
  • Must have extensive knowledge and experience with major programming languages such as Python, Java, .NET, SQL and scripting.
  • Hands on experience working in a DevOps/Agile environment
  • Nice to have - Experience with Serverless, Google Cloud Function/Run, Google Cloud Storage and Micro-Services.
  • Hands on experience working with Bitbucket, Jenkins (pipelines)
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills, and be capable of multi-tasking and managing concurrent tasks and initiatives
  • Ability to solve technical problems/ processes and understand complex details
  • A high level of interpersonal and verbal communication skills necessary to relate to other people at their systems knowledge level
  • Self motivated and curious to learn new technologies and business use cases.
