Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to climb and work aloft on poles, ladders, or other support structures and connect, disconnect, and relocate cable outlets
- The candidates should be able to determine work assignments, inspect, test, and repair cable signals and associated equipment, and install cable modems and software for internet access
- The candidates should be able to maintain and repair aerial and underground transmission systems, repair or replace faulty cables, power suppliers, and amplifiers, and test equipment to locate transmission faults
- The candidates should be able to splice, join, and connect wires, repair or replace defective telephone equipment, and instruct apprentices
- The candidates should be able to install trunking systems, circuits, and equipment, inspect and test trunking systems, and determine the nature, cause, and location of trouble
- The candidates should be able to complete and maintain test and service reports, read and interpret blueprints, and install and maintain aerial and underground telephone equipment
