What is the Opportunity?

This role is open for both new grads and senior candidates. As a Cloud Security Developer, you will be leading, designing, and developing innovative solutions around governance, observability, chaos engineering, DevSecOps, and more initiatives that contribute to the mission of the cloud security team to improve RBC's cloud security posture while simultaneously improving the developer experience and developing a culture to follow the best security practices.

What will you do? 

• Establish core services and security controls across multiple cloud environments – Azure, AWS, and GCP

• Design and build cloud security solutions while using modern automation, config as code, and TDD principles

• Implement SRE practices to improve operational processes and increase reliability while reducing the toil

• Participate, lead and jointly deliver solutions that integrate end-to-end and provide value by evolving with an ever-evolving infrastructure

• Maintain strong working relationships with multiple engineering groups to maintain alignment on technical strategy

• Collaborate and build solutions to provide security coverage reports across platforms and environments to identify gaps and build the cloud security strategy

• Brainstorm and collaborate with the team members to build POCs and experiment with new tools and technologies

What do you need to succeed?

 Must-Have:

• Possess knowledge of modern software development, DevOps, and SRE practices

• Proficiency with Python, Go, TypeScript, or any other modern programming language

• Experience working with one of the major public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)

• Experience building and optimizing CI/CD pipelines with shell scripts, Jenkins, GitOps, etc.

• Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools like ARM, CFN, and Terraform

• Leadership skills to own and lead a project from start to finish

• Experience working with container tools and platforms (Docker, K8s, OCP, etc.)

 Nice to have:

• Experience with SIEM solutions like Splunk, Dynatrace, Datadog, etc.

The Solution Architect helps support and lead the implementation of enterprise, business, information/data, application and technology architectures as defined by the Enterprise Architect.  Working with the Enterprise Architect, the Solution Architect will provide support to enterprise-level business functions.

The Solution Architect will champion this enterprise view with support from the Enterprise Architect, and in alignment with the Enterprise Architecture strategies.  They will apply these Enterprise Architecture strategies, blueprints, and standards into their solutions and designs as they support business and technology projects. 

The role provides leadership in planning and implementing enterprise information systems to support both distributed and centralized business operations.  

The position has access to confidential information and makes recommendations for changes in methods, processes and procedures that may impact on financial and operational areas as well as staffing work loads, working conditions, changes in positions or staffing levels.

Specific Duties/Responsibilities

• Researches, evaluates and recommends new tools and methodologies for development of business applications
• Validate, Refine and Expand the Enterprise Architecture Model
  • Verify assumptions; utilize subject matter experts to improve and further define the model defined by the Enterprise Architect
  • Assess the value of solution-enhancing developments and incorporate as appropriate.

Minimum Position Requirements

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• 5 years of professional IT experience in at least two IT solution disciplines – eg technical or infrastructure architecture, application development, cloud, IoT, data, integration
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a role focused on delivering solution architecture as a strategic practice
• Minimum of 1 years of experience in project management  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Extensive knowledge of current IT trends and technologies.
• Proficient in the techniques required to produce designs of complex systems; including requirements discovery and analysis, formulation of solution content, identification of solution alternatives and their assessment, technology selection, and design configuration.
• Working knowledge of more than one design method, such as the TOGAF Architecture Development Method (ADM)
• Experience using Enterprise Architecture tooling, Hopex preferred
• Ability to direct groups with diverse opinions together to reach a consensus and the ability to lead the effort of architecting a technical solution to address complex business problems.
• Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills are required.

Reporting to the Manager, Technology Engineering, the Cloud Technology Engineer supports the organization’s cloud strategy by designing and implementing scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud architectures, evaluating emerging cloud technologies, and providing recommendations for adoption. He/She/They provides architectural oversight of cloud workloads, supports the evaluation and recommendation of cloud services and tools, and maintains cloud solution documentations and standards to ensure their accuracy and timeliness. The position also supports the establishment and enforcement of cloud governance frameworks, drives cloud migration initiatives and optimizes cloud performance by reengineering solutions.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The successful candidate will have the following:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or other relevant discipline.
• Extensive experience with enterprise architecture frameworks, such as TOGAF, and administration and configuration of enterprise grade IT Infrastructure in a corporate environment.
• Considerable experience in planning, researching, designing, and qualifying Cloud and on-premise infrastructure solutions. 
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience, acceptable to the Employer

• Extensive knowledge of both Microsoft and Oracle environments.
• Extensive knowledge of High Availability and Disaster Recover in the cloud.
