The Junior Cybersecurity Analyst will assist the Cybersecurity Analyst(s) in supporting the implementation and maintenance of the cybersecurity program for the City of Saskatoon. This role focuses on ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets across both Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) environments.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides day to day operational support to the Cybersecurity Analyst(s) in the implementation of the cybersecurity program for the City. 
  • Investigate and document security incidents, prepare detailed reports, and propose preventive measures.
  • Participate actively in the incident response team, assisting in all phases from initial alert through post-incident review.
  • Analyse security incidents to determine root causes and impacts. Collaborate with Cybersecurity Analyst(s) for containment and resolution strategies.
  • Conduct regular security threat and risk assessments and work with IT and OT teams to develop remediation plans.
  • Assist in internal and external security audits to ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Support the development and maintenance of cybersecurity policies, ensuring they reflect evolving threats and regulations.
  • Assist in developing, conducting, and promoting security awareness training programs and best practices for City employees.
  • Work closely with IT, OT, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure a coordinated approach to cybersecurity.
  • Communicate security risks and mitigation strategies to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on cybersecurity matters.
  • Maintain and update SIEM systems for comprehensive security monitoring and reporting.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience Requirements

  • A two-year diploma in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field AND
  • A minimum of 2 years of cybersecurity-related experience in roles such as Cybersecurity Specialist, Information Security Analyst, or Network Security Administrator and possession of any of the following certifications: 
    • Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)
    • CompTIA Security+ Certification
    • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
    • Certified Cybersecurity Technician (CCT)

 

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  • Understand the principles of cybersecurity, including concepts of confidentiality, integrity, and availability in Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) environments and how cybersecurity practices apply to both.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse security incidents to determine root causes and impacts. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate security risks and mitigation strategies effectively to non-technical stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities

These responsibilities could include arranging, facilitating, and participating in technology security design and planning sessions to develop solutions for security problems.

  • Coordinates and reports post-incident activities and lessons learnt for corporate use and external information sharing.
  • Prepares and present cybersecurity awareness materials to internal and external audiences as required.
  • Monitors and reviews applications, databases, network devices, access technologies to ensure proper configuration of security settings, policies and ensure secure use practices are in place.
  • Identifies current gaps in cybersecurity risk management across the city to determine additional cybersecurity actions based on industry best practices, developments, and knowledge, to maintain appropriate security posture in operational technology (OT) and IT. environments. Conducts regular internal vulnerability assessments and work with relevant units in IT and OT departments to remediate vulnerabilities.
  • Participates in external penetration tests, interprets results, and liaise with relevant stakeholders to address identified issues in a timely fashion.
  • Creates cybersecurity operational guides (such as hardening guides) in consultation with relevant IT and OT departments; monitor the use of developed principles, and advise on necessary improvements from time to time.
  • Participates in the development, tests and implementation of a practical disaster recovery plan.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or recognized equivalent
  • 5 years continuous experience in information security management activities, e.g. policy formulation, cyber risk management, incident management, disaster recovery and business continuity, cybersecurity awareness, security architecture and management etc
  • Possession of any of the following certifications:

The Data Centre Technician (DCT) is the initial point of contact at the facility and is responsible for ensuring the data centre and building are maintained in a professional and secure manner. Additionally, you may be requested to provide 5 years of criminal background checks from your country of residence for the last five years. What you'll be doing:

- Security, Ensuring the property is secure for tenants and clients, management of access cards, surveillance monitoring, investigation of problem situations.

- Daily Operations, Shipping/Receiving duties, site inspection/walk-throughs, and timely reporting of incidents outside of normal operating policy.

- Emergency Operations ; Primary point of contact/communications for staff, management, and emergency responders during a site incident.

The Specialist I TIS Data and Analytics leads data engineering efforts for the existing portfolio of data analytics products, solutions, services, and supporting technologies, including modern cloud-based systems and other service and solution components within Enbridge.

 

What you will do:

  • Understand strategic imperatives of the business and conducts value assessments to support prioritization of opportunities, including initiatives related to the data analytics portfolio through planning, budgeting, stakeholder engagement, risk/issue management, and status reporting.

  • Assist in solutions architecture, data engineering, DevOps and analytics related strategic planning activities.

  • Lead data engineering from an operational standpoint and provides expert recommendations for data engineering product design and know-how to address business needs.

  • Partner with TIS Functional teams in delivery and sustainment of data analytics product needs

  • Using an Agile methodology, organize the work efforts of the Data and Analytics teams to ensure all data engineering products, services, and solution enhancement designs align with enterprise architecture direction and standard methodologies and meet customer requests in a timely manner.

  • Act as a liaison between Data and Analytics team and external analytics service providers, partner with business relationship managers, business users, portfolio architects, functional and product owners, data analysts, solution and data architects, and data scientists to identify and develop data engineering use cases with attention to cloud computing (batch, micro-batch, or stream processing) and storage.

  • Provide strategic and expert guidance in development of data engineering models and ensures processes and solution components conform to technical functionality (e.g., preparation of high-quality data, security, performance, scalability, data recovery, and reliability)

 

Who you are:

  • You have bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering or a related field and 7+ years progressively professional experience in a computer engineering role

  • Deep understanding of modern data engineering and big data analytics technologies, including analytical data stores (e.g., Delta tables, Data Lakehouse architecture), performance tuning and optimization, machine learning, advanced visualization, and automation

  • Sophisticated level knowledge of relational, NoSQL, or NewSQL database systems; data modeling; and managing structured and unstructured data.

  • Experience with scaling data engineering solutions using development tools for CI/CD, unit and integration testing, orchestration.

  • Advanced algorithm design and production programming skills in Python, Scala, Kafka, Hive, JavaScript, JQuery, JSON, REST API, and other related coding languages with proven experience using Apache Spark and designing relevant data structures, algorithms, and techniques related to systems that support high volume, velocity, or variety datasets including apps that utilize machine learning and artificial intelligence (ML/AI)

  • Technical experience in leading the development of data engineering pipelines using Databricks and integrating them into cloud-based analytical solutions working in collaboration with data ingestion, data engineering, data provisioning, data visualization, and data science teams.

  • Understanding of parallel and distributed data processing techniques and platforms (MPI, Map/Reduce, Batch) and systems and cloud infrastructure tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker, and Ansible)

  • Strong DevOps skillset ranging from but not limited to, software development, IT operations, automation, Cloud computing and monitoring and logging.

 

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of data governance practices, approaches and technology issues and trends related to managing enterprise data and information assets in a large, complex organization.

  • Knowledge of Agile development best practices and experience with tools such as GitHub
