CPIC Operator Full-time Job

Duties:
- Types investigation and occurrence reports, from forms and dictaphone, into Saskatoon Information Management System (SIMS). Notifies Sergeant of report errors and assigns report files to the appropriate sections, as required.
- Operates computer terminals and police software systems; i.e. SIMS, Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), Justice Automated Information Network (JAIN) and Criminal Offenders Photograph System (COPS), to enter, confirm, remove, retrieve and revise data and respond to enquiries. Retrieves information from Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) database.
- Responds to internal and external enquiries over the counter and by police radio, telephone, facsimile and Mobile Data Terminal (MDT).
- Enters and maintains adult and young person court documents into CPIC
- Sends and distributes messages by fax and by MDT and CPIC terminals.
- Types, files, retrieves, enters, deletes and scans documents, including warrants and reports, as required.
- Assists with jury enquiries, as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 education.
- Post-Secondary School Certificate in Business or related field.
- Typing speed of 55 w.p.m.
- Two years’ police office experience.
- Knowledge of CPIC, SIMS, JAIN and COPS police computer systems.
- Knowledge of Canadian Criminal Code and provincial statutes.
- Ability to pass the Saskatoon Police Service security clearance process.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to maintain attention to detail.
- Ability to speak clearly and distinctly.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with police officers, court officials and civic employees.
- Skill in the operation of office equipment, including a computer.
Hours:
Shift work and weekend work is involved; 12-hour rotating shifts as follows:
- 3 Day Shifts, 2 Night Shifts, 5 Days Off;
- 2 Day Shifts, 2 Night Shifts, 5 Days Off;
- 2 Day Shifts, 3 Night Shifts, 4 Days Off.

As an Alternative Response Officer, you have a unique role in the provision of public safety services in our city by providing investigative and enforcement support to police officers. Direct Service Delivery
- Walking the beat, facilitating outreach and referral for vulnerable persons and enforcing infractions under provincial and municipal legislation

Enforcement Support

Salary: ~$92,758 after five years.
Requirements:
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Bachelor of Social Work, Human Justice, or Arts with a focus in human studies; or a grade 12 or GED.
- Must pass the POPAT with a minimum time of 4:45.

- Valid, unrestricted class 5 driver’s license.
- No criminal convictions for which a Pardon has not been granted.
- No recent illicit drug use.
- No medical restrictions that would hinder ability to perform ARO duties.

- Assists with scheduling of activity space and the identification of activities in accordance with the program planning cycle and will work collaboratively with and receive direction from the program design team throughout the program planning cycle.
- Assists with preparing the site for various events, providing support to meet the operational needs of the user, e.g. set-up, staffing, maintaining program equipment.
- Prepares and administers contracts for contracted program staff, as directed.
- Coordinates, participates in, and evaluates orientation and in-service training programs for program staff.
- Purchases equipment and supplies for scheduled activities in accordance with the budget and maintains an inventory of assets.
- Ensures program space is ready for activities delivered by the Department and agencies renting the facility.
- Provides interpretation of program and rental policies and procedures for the public and staff.
- Deals with customers to resolve issues, respond to enquiries and resolve conflict.
- Assists with activity evaluation by compiling statistics, providing rationale, and preparing recommendations for program operations.
- Prepares written documents as required which may include but not be limited to: program summary evaluations, memos, orientation outlines, and checklists.

Qualifications
- Graduation from a two-year, post-secondary program in recreation and leisure.
- One year’s related experience in the delivery of aquatic, fitness and/or recreation programs preferred.
- Possession of valid recognized standard first aid and CPR certificates.
- Ability to complete in-house Aquatic Training within 6 months of hire.
- Possession of Red Cross Swim Kids 10 (Aqua Quest 12) or Red Cross Aqua Leader certification is an asset.
- Possession of Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association, or other recognized certification in fitness is an asset.
- Knowledge of the theory, philosophy, standards, trends, and practises of recreation program planning, particularly in a municipal setting.
- Knowledge of the methods of evaluation related to aquatic, fitness, and recreation programs.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee the delivery of aquatic, fitness and/or recreation programs.
- Ability to express ideas and concepts effectively orally and in writing to staff and public.
