Job Responsibilities

What will you do?

  • You’ll start your day in the depot, sorting and preparing the day’s deliveries
  • You’ll load and drive a Canada Post postal vehicle
  • You’ll then spend most of your day outside, delivering packages by vehicle to customers on your route
  • Operate portable communication devices (two-way radios/texting, PDT's)
  • Present Canada Post in a professional manner
  • Maintain and safe guard all mail items and Canada Post property

Job Responsibilities (continued)

  • Communicate with customers and the general public
  • Operate a vehicle in a satisfactory safe manner, when applicable
  • Maintain a satisfactory safe driving record and the appropriate class of provincial driver's license, when applicable
  • Lift mail items weighing up to 22.7 kilograms (50 pounds) and carry mail items weighing up to 15.9 kilograms (35 pounds)
  • Work safely in all of the outdoor elements (snow, rain, hail, icy conditions, etc)

Qualifications

What must you have?

  • A valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a safe driving record for at least 3 years (driver's abstract required)
  • Experience in customer service is an asset
  • Experience in a delivery and/or driving role is an asset

CPKC is hiring fulltime Equipment Operators in order to facilitate the safe and efficient loading of domestic and international containers at the Intermodal facility in Lachine, Quebec.

Starting position includes operation of various intermodal equipment (shunt trucks etc.) at the rate of $29.661 and offers near term progression to other positions within the facility, example Utility Ground at the rate of $30.985 and Heavy Equipment Operator at the rate of $34.959.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Operation of various terminal equipment including shunt trucks, light duty pickup trucks, fuel trucks, trailers, chassis, forklift, sweeper truck, etc
  • Hostling containers/chassis within terminal to support train loading operations
  • General duties, as required, including pre-tripping of perishable intermodal containers, building electric reefer container sets on railcars, plug in reefers on ground and monitor performance
  • Perform visual inspection and report on damages and defects of intermodal equipment
  • Prepare railcars for proper loading of different-size containers by placement of pedestals and spacers

• Ensure disposal of obsolete/inactive inventory
• Co-ordinate inter-site demand

  • Reduce as much as possible discrepancies and deviation from the plans by proposing lasting short-term solutions, and by raising the partners’ awareness to the impact of their work on profitability, client satisfaction and the employees themselves
  • Manage inventory level and in-flow
  • Release planned orders to relevant purchasing documentation
  • Manage activities of non-conforming materials to meet schedule
  • Manage incoming shipments (traffic in-bound)
  • Ensure documentation is compliant to internal and external regulations (snags, C of Cs)
  • Ensure engineering and manufacturing configuration (MAC PAC)
  • Participate in improvement projects and demand to supply process (cost reductions, Six Sigma, manufacturing improvements, TAC, BMIS, SAP, etc.)
  • Support program management by participating in program reviews and by providing the information related to any changes in the schedules
  • Support sourcing teams in negotiations and commodity projects.

How to thrive in this role?

  • You have a bachelor's degree in administration or operations management
  • You have five (5) to eight (8) years of experience in Materials or Inventory Management
  • You have work or internship experience in external production (OP) an asset
  • You have experience or knowledge of SAP an asset
  • You have a strong sense of ethics and are customer-focused
  • You have good analytical, planning, problem-solving and interpersonal skills are essential
  • You are bilingual (French and English spoken and written).

  • Define and execute lean, reliable material flows from dock to point of use in close collaboration with the Logistics-Supply function;
  • Define and implement inventory management as part of a comprehensive working capital improvement strategy;
  • Build a shopload plan for production section “non-cadencé”.
  • Develop solutions to align supply and demand in order to achieve inventory management strategy.
  • Define and document handling equipment from the loading dock to the work station;

  • Drive a heavy vehicle, 26’/33,000 lb with 6 or 10 wheels
  • Transport goods on an Inter-factory circuit between Dorval, Pointe-Claire and surrounding areas
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in transportation (forklift, mules, truck)
  • Transport dangerous materials and high-value aeronautical parts
  • Use an electric or manual pallet truck and/or a Raymond-type standing lift
