NATURE OF WORK:

In an environment that supports continuous improvement and under the direct supervision of the Clerk Cashier or designate, these employees answer and deal with customer inquiries, service requests and complaints for all programs and services offered at Major facilities. This employee also performs cashier duties including receipt of funds, issuance of receipts, balancing and preparation of bank deposits.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Answers and deals with client inquiries, services requests and complaints in person and over the phone. Responds to all client inquires and requests.
  • Performs cashier duties including receipt of funds, issuance of receipts, balancing and preparation of bank deposits.
  • Monitors and allows access of clients into the facility and maintains the necessary statistical data.
  • Follows all rules and regulations as set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the City of Regina Occupational Health and Safety Manual.
  • Performs related duties as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

  • Knowledge of cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with the public.
  • Ability to operate cash handling equipment.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships.

This position performs entry level labourer duties within the Roadways &Transportation department for various work units which include:

  • Roadways Maintenance Operations

Job Duties: The City of Regina’s Asphalt Maintenance Crews are assigned to maintain and perform maintenance on Regina’s extensive Road infrastructure. Successful candidates will be required to perform maintenance activities such as pothole patching and asphalt cut repairs on residential streets, main arterial’s, and highways. This position conducts general labour maintenance duties.

The typical roles and duties include:

  • Asphalt Maintenance - raking, shoveling, tamping and other general labour duties.
  • Asphalt Cut Crew - raking, shoveling, tamping and other general labour duties.

 

Concrete Maintenance
Job Duties: The City of Regina’s Concrete Maintenance Crews are assigned to maintain Regina’s extensive concrete infrastructure. Successful candidates will be part of a crews performing concrete maintenance work to repair sidewalk, curbing, boulevards, medians and other concrete work where required. This position conducts general labour maintenance duties.

This position is responsible for performing highly skilled journeyperson mechanic duties in the Transit Fleet Maintenance Branch.  This position reports to the Supervisor of Maintenance and Equipment. 
 

Note: May be required to work varying day, evening and weekend shifts. Evening shifts are subject to a $1.00/Hour shift differential and Sunday shall be paid at the rate of time and a quarter.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance and overhauls bus engines, transmissions, differentials, brakes, suspension, steering, HVAC and all auxiliary equipment, including electrical components.
  • Assists in determining and ordering parts and materials necessary for repair of equipment.
  • Diagnoses mechanical and electrical defects.
  • Performs Highway Traffic Board safety inspections and related repairs.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Considerable knowledge of the practices, methods, tools and equipment used in the overhauling, repair and maintenance of heavy duty and automotive equipment.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings and manuals.
  • Ability to prepare concise reports related to all work performed.
  • Ability to maintain co-operative and harmonious working relations with other employees.
  • Demonstrated skill in diagnosing mechanical defects on a variety of equipment.

Education & Experience

Typically, the knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position are obtained through completion of a Journeyperson Certificate in Truck and Transport Trade, Heavy Duty Mechanics, Agriculture Machinery Technician or Automotive Service Technician, combined with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in truck and transport mechanical repair including training and experience in the heavy-duty automatic transmission and automotive electrical fields. Training and experience in Allison Automatic and ZF Transmissions, Automotive Electrical systems, and Cummins diesel engines is preferred.

Working/Other Conditions

Must have or be able to obtain a Class 5A License.

Position Summary

This position performs complex and advanced technical work including writing reports, providing field inspection, and documenting daily construction progress and practices. The position provides advanced advice regarding technologies and technical analysis related to roadway and traffic construction, design, planning, operation, preservation, maintenance, testing, management, and performance. This position reports to the Supervisor, Testing Lab and Field Services.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide technical analysis and operational support related transportation infrastructure, planning, design, construction, operation, preservation, maintenance, testing, management, and performance.
  • Review and comment on drawings, specifications, plans and applications from engineering consultants and developers to ensure City standards and requirements are met.
  • Develop, monitor, manage and conduct data and sample collection programs.
  • Be able to interpret testing results, produce reports and make recommendations for road network planning, road construction and maintenance programs and traffic safety analysis.
  • Review engineering design, material testing and technology/equipment standards and specifications. Research, co-ordinate and assemble information and prepare technical reports.
  • Research and evaluate the application of technologies and industry best practices related to roadway and traffic design, construction, operation and preservation, transportation planning, traffic safety, traffic engineering and operation, and testing services.
  • Provide advanced advice regarding technologies and technical analysis related to roadway and traffic planning, construction, operation, preservation, maintenance, testing, management, and performance. New technologies comprise of engineered materials; integration of Global Positioning System/Geographical Information System (GPS/GIS) technology; development/integration of computer applications and information systems to enhance productivity/efficiency; roadway and traffic modelling; new testing/monitoring equipment for quality control of construction/maintenance operations and maintenance information systems, etc.
  • Tactfully and adequately respond to concerns and inquiries from the public, City Council, and other branches/departments/divisions.
  • Contribute to team projects and effectively participate as a team member.
  • Ensure compliance of personnel, equipment, materials, contractors, and consultants at work sites to meet Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act, City of Regina Occupational Health and Safety Manual,
  • City of Regina Standard and Emergency Operating Procedures, and legislative and regulatory requirements.

Education & Experience

The knowledge, abilities, and skills are obtained through completion of a two (2) year diploma in Civil, Environmental or Water Resources Engineering Technology and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in related roadway and/or traffic engineering/technical field.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to apply engineering practices, principles, theories, computations, analyses, and statistics.
  • Knowledge of transportation infrastructure, planning, management, design, materials, operations, construction, maintenance, and preservation.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability with sampling and monitoring programs and laboratory/field testing procedures.
  • Knowledge and experience with Quality Control and Quality Assurance practices would be an asset. Knowledge of drafting and surveying technology practices and techniques.
  • Ability to interpret, understand and manage work in accordance with the general rules and regulations of the Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act, other legislation, and expectations of City of Regina’s policies, standards, practices, and guidelines.
  • Ability to acquire and apply knowledge of City policies and procedures, and legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Intermediate skills to create tables and forms, create formulas, create queries and reports, modify, and customize charts and tables, use pivot tables and cross tab queries, and import/export data from various sources and formats using software such as in the Microsoft Suite of Professional Office Software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access).

Working/Other Conditions

Job Summary

Under the direction of a Powerline Technician and the supervision of the Powerline Foreman, this apprentice position performs trade duties as assigned in a trainee capacity.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Installs, maintains and repairs overhead and underground primary and secondary distribution and street lighting systems.
  • Installs, maintains and repairs energized and de-energized low voltage and high voltage lines and equipment.

  • Successful completion of Saskatoon Light & Power Pre-Apprenticeship Skill Assessment.

  • Following appointment, enrol in and complete successfully, the Saskatchewan Power Lineman Apprenticeship Program and receive a Saskatchewan Power Lineman Apprenticeship Certificate and complete four years of on-the-job training.

Responsibilities
