JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the review, inspection and approval of the construction of plumbing systems for all buildings regulated by the Ontario Building Code.
 

Provides a broad range of comprehensive technical, expert, and professional, advisory service for plumbing systems for all buildings under the Ontario Building Code. This service includes specialized technical advice in the following disciplines of the Building Code (Plumbing), applicable law, agreements and development approvals.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of 3 year community college diploma as an Architectural, Civil, Mechanical, Fire Protection or Construction Technologist

Minimum of 7 years of related experience in the design and construction of buildings, including a minimum of 3 years in the fields of plan examination, building inspection and enforcement of the Ontario Building Code Act and regulations

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES

Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as Plumber 306A
AND
Must have successfully completed the provincially mandated examinations program administered by Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing relating to: Building Code Act and the Ontario Building Code; in the categories of qualifications that correspond to the types of buildings that will be inspected (reviews of drawings and inspection of construction), and plumbing building systems, as set out in the Ontario Building Code. Including:
a.  Legal Process for Building Officials and Designers 2012, and
b.  Plumbing All Buildings 2012
AND
Preference to those with:
Building Code Qualified (BCQ) or Certified Building Code Official (C.B.C.O.) in the Ontario Building Officials Association

KNOWLEDGE

  • Specialized knowledge of building plumbing and/or mechanical technology and systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction drawings (including architectural, structural, plumbing, mechanical, electrical and geotechnical drawings and specifications) combined with an understanding of the different types of regulations associated with the development approval process
  • Working knowledge of professional and technical practice in all disciplines of the design and construction of buildings (architectural, engineering, plumbing, mechanical, structural, geotechnical, project management, etc.)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Building Code Act, the Ontario Building Code, Fire Protection legislation, the Provincial Offences Act, Environmental Protection legislation, the Planning Act, the Heritage Act, and other applicable legislations and regulations
  • Working knowledge of all referenced standards including: National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA), Canadian Standards Association (CSA), Underwriters Laboratories Canada (ULC), and other approval agencies such as the Building Material Evaluation Commission (BMEC), the Canadian Centre for Construction Materials (CCMC) and the Technical Safety Standards Authority (TSSA)
  • Working knowledge of the Building Inspection and Plan Examination Policies, Guidelines and Standards manuals
  • Knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety legislation
  • General knowledge of corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to health and safety

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of Grade 12.

Minimum of 5 years of driving experience with a clean driving record free of demerit points and including ideally a minimum 3 years of relevant customer service experience including direct contact with the public and dealing with a diverse population.

Public Urban transit experience is an asset

Applicants must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job including, but not limited to, performing the following tasks, which are repetitive and constant during a normal shift as a Bus Operator:

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time in the driver’s seat while wearing a seat belt
  • Ability to bend, twist body and to manipulate controls independently or simultaneously at any given time, while wearing a seatbelt in the driver’s seat
  • Ability to “reach over-head” with both arms to manipulate controls
  • Constant twisting and neck rotation of different ranges to check mirrors, bus passes, etc.
  • Ability to perform required MTO pre-trip inspection, which involves walking, bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, twisting body in many different positions
  • Medium duty lifting while assisting customers with special needs
  • Constant gripping, pulling and pushing to manipulate control (steering controls, control valves, etc.)
  • Bending, stooping, crouching and twisting in order to keep stairway clear of ice and snow build-up
  • Ability to manipulate dual foot controls independently or simultaneously at any given time

Reporting to the Manager, MOC, Outstation Maintenance and Contract MROs, will work in support of Porter’s fleet in SOC coordinating maintenance actrivity.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • MOC is responsible for technical dispatch and will use AMOS, Porter's maintenance system, to ensure all scheduled and unscheduled maintenace is carried out and released prior to dispatch
  • Monitor deferred defects as part of technical dispatch
  • Work with Operational Planners in support of Work Packs that are issued to overnight aircraft at main bases and outstations and adjust should aircraft swaps arise
  • Work directly with flight crews and dispatchers each time a defect is reported to SOC
  • Assist flight crews with MEL procedures
  • Coorindate AOG road trips system wide, including parts, tools and hangar space
  • Coordinate with third party MROs if unforeseen maintenance away from a maintenance base is required
  • While liasing with engineering, work directly the associated OEM should technical assistance be required
  • Update each aircraft's weigth and balance information via established spreadsheets and AOC software each time a change is made
  • Monitor for the fleet for repeat defects
  • Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy
