Major Responsibilities:

 

  • The Director of Nursing is responsible for the oversight, planning and coordination of resident care and providing management of nursing and personal care services to ensure an outstanding level of resident care in accordance with the policies of the LTC home and applicable legislation.

Ensures that nursing assessments, observations and interventions are accurately collected and documented.   • Works co-operatively with other members of the Home management team on professional matters and decision making related to resident care and service.

Key Qualifications:

 

  1. Extensive experience in nursing management in a long-term care or continuing care/rehabilitation facility.
  2. Current registration with the Ontario College of Nurses as a Registered Nurse.
  3. Baccalaureate in Nursing and certification in Nursing Administration or equivalent management experience as per Ontario Regulation 79/10 made under the Fixing Long-Term Care Act
  4. Considerable experience in supervising, managing, motivating and developing a diverse workforce in a fast-paced customer service oriented environment with the ability to interpret and apply employment policies and collective agreements.
  5. Strong understanding of policies and related legislation or initiatives and their significance and potential impact

Major Responsibilities:

The primary functions associated with this position includes a variety of administrative and support functions, but are not limited to the following:

 

Administration

  • Provides administrative support and coordination in Human Resources related activities such as recruitment file maintenance and archiving, complement management maintenance, and training record and calendar maintenance.
  • Coordinates the unit’s budget activities pertaining to procurement such as conferences, memberships, tuition reimbursements and subscriptions.
  • Supports the unit’s inventory of computer equipment, including the procurement of new equipment and technology needs.

  • Develops unit administrative procedures and systems.

 

Program and Project Support

  • Supports unit’s educational activities such as student placements, attendance management and program logistics.
  • Provides onboarding activities/orientation to new unit staff as appropriate.
  • Supports unit projects, programs, and events.
  • Participates and completes assigned project work independently within tight timeframes.
  • Supports policy and procedure development as assigned.
  • Supports divisional training activities.

 

Communication and Reporting

  • Composes detailed correspondence in matters relevant to the scope of responsibilities.
  • Compiles, maintains, tracks and trends statistical data for use in forecasting; participates in analysis.
  • Prepares visual presentations, briefing materials, and other documentation.
  • Assists in preparing and maintaining unit web and intranet content.
  • Represents the unit in communications with internal and external stakeholders, in matters relevant to the scope of responsibilities.
  • Responds to detailed inquiries from divisional and City staff and the public in a diplomatic and efficient manner.

 

Key Qualifications:

  1. Graduate from a relevant university or college program such as Human Resources, Psychology, Marketing, Communications or Business Management is an asset, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Administrative experience supporting senior level employees.
  3. Experience with a variety of software packages including but not limited to (i.e. Microsoft Office, Slido, and/or Adobe). E-learning software administration experience is considered an asset.
  4. Experience in the preparation and drafting of standard correspondence and reports and handling of confidential information.
  5. Ability to identify and analyze problems and inefficiencies and suggest corrective actions and solutions.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare detailed documentation requiring application of regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  7. Ability to establish productive working relationships with all levels of staff, union officials and the public with well developed conflict resolution skills.

JOB SUMMARY

Transit Operations provides safe, reliable and courteous transit services and excellence in customer service delivery to 100 million transit customers per year, by means of conventional bus, para transit and rail operations. The Transit Special Constable Unit manages the Special Constable and Fare Enforcement Programs, Transit revenue loss and fare enforcement programs, property protection and law enforcement programs, the transit emergency response and preparedness programs, communications equipment/systems, processes and sectional records activities.
 

You are responsible for security and law enforcement duties involving passengers, employees, Transit Services facilities/vehicles/assets and the general public.
 

You execute the duties of a Sworn Special Constable/Peace Officer, agent and occupier of City of Ottawa Transit Services*, in accordance with:

  • Federal/Provincial/Municipal laws
  • Special Constable contract with the Ottawa Police Services Board
  • Rules and regulations governing a Special Constable appointment (as amended from time to time)
  • Corporate/Branch/Division policies and standards

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Meet eligibility requirements for appointment as a Special Constable, which are:

    • Must learn, meet and maintain Transit Special Constable Services standard in the use of oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray, baton and the use of force continuum
    • Candidates will be required to undergo physical fitness testing with the Transit Special Constable Recruiters. Candidates will be required to successfully complete the Ontario Police Fitness PIN test.
