Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 7 months to less than 1 year
Area of specialization: Geriatrics
Credentials: Eligible for licensure as a practical nurse by the province/territory of work, CPR Certificate and First Aid Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check, Immunization records and Tuberculosis test
Work setting: Nursing home/home for the aged
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be capable of working under pressure
- The candidates should handle repetitive tasks and demonstrate attention to detail
- The candidates should be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, and be able to manage a large caseload
Candidate Status:
- Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
- Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
- If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to administer medication, observe, and document therapeutic effects
- The candidates should be able to take vital signs, apply aseptic techniques (including sterile dressing), and ensure infection control
- The candidates should be able to monitor established respiratory therapy, intravenous therapy, and conduct specimen collection
- The candidates should be able to provide pre-operative and post-operative personal and comfort care
- The candidates should be able to provide safety and health education to individuals and their families
- The candidates should be able to provide nursing services to patients based on patient assessment and care planning procedures
- The candidates should be able to monitor patients’ progress, evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions, and consult with appropriate members of the healthcare team
